You can see 5 Adamantoise grazing in that video. Now if you imaging the same with Cerberus, Behemoths. Sure it will look like hell broke loose, but still the majesty and dignity will be gone from those monster's... If they become a common sight.
I think they are doing it a bit like those scary freaking turtles in FFXIII open map section..
My lord.. boom boom boom... RUN!!!!
Though I hope that's just the one inspiration.. I wouldn't want them to spam the badass monsters - like you said.. ruins their majesty.
Perhaps a big turtle boss will be... really big...
That's a few degrees to big, what the hell can you do as a tank or a melee or even a mage against something so big it will walk through 100 people and not even feel the fact that it's making a "SQUISH" sound with every step!I think they are doing it a bit like those scary freaking turtles in FFXIII open map section..

Thats exactly how I felt when they owned my face off the for what felt like 20 hours of me leveling there.. Finally can kill those suckers..
Would be pretty cool to see monsters that scale in ARR right? Obviously sparingly but.. still SE has great models I'd love to see some big ones. WoW's drove me crazy because it was like "I can obviously tell you took a treant model and stretched it out to the point the textures look beyond bad.. and I can count the polys on one hand"...
I loved those things! I could not stop laughing the first time I tried to fight one of them.I think they are doing it a bit like those scary freaking turtles in FFXIII open map section..

I remember the "Making of a Realm" mini-documentaries that were released shortly before the 1.0 launch, where they talked a bit about how the models were created. They used really powerful SGI boxes to create super hi-poly models, then scaled them way down for importing into Crystal Tools.
Which means it's conceivable they could have a GIANT ENEMY MARMOT and not have to worry about the model losing its detail like what you get in WoW.

Sounds awesome. And hopefully the same possibility will be true of Luminous.I loved those things! I could not stop laughing the first time I tried to fight one of them.

There were a few things FFXIII really did right in terms of battle camera, mobs, and certain mobs areas. I hope they won't be completely ignored just due to the poor (...US) press. I miss the 1.x camera-lock already in ARR. But it's be worth losing it in my opinion to gain a well-designed encompassing Battle Camera. Not that we can't have both...
Should be. The models are the models. The engine they're used in has no effect on their design or creation. The screenshots and videos I've seen lead me to believe the models weren't changed much, if at all, before they were ported to the ARR engine.
Some more Monster Artwork
All Races in RSE
Judge of Ivalice...Who does he remind you of? (we still haven't seen 12 of them in FFXIV)

The Sea Serpent seen in the Limsa Lominsa intro
Which becomes a bridge in Upper La Noscea in ARR
Hope there is more than one as Leviathan's minion for us to battle
Midgarsormr's Grave (something we might not see anymore in ARR)
The Ascian a creature only seen once in-game confirmed to return in ARR
Atomos (exactly the same as FFXI and very similar to the past games)
