I'd love if FFXIV had its own unique card game and "sport", using previous minigames like Triple Triad and Blitzball as a launch point. Not something copy-and-pasted, something organic to Eorzea and the world so that if feels like it belongs to FFXIV. They should also be properly incentivized without requiring a player to play them. I feel some of the original spirit of FFXIV was about choosing how you want to play with the time you have instead of going through the motions led by a carrot dangling from a stick.

I think even smaller minigames that wouldn't require a huge amount of effort -- something like Sphere Break from Final Fantasy X-2, which was a rather basic but addictive numbers game. Something that would give the world more of a Final Fantasy-flavor or charm we've come to expect.

I find many Final Fantasy minigames to be a worthwhile timesink, so I hope Team XIV will consider them!

betting would be quite nice in the game. I still think adding blitzball and letting people bet on matches would be quite interesting but realistically bliztballl isnt going to happen but i still think they should find a way to let players bet.

There will be betting at the Colosseum if I remember correctly. They haven't really talked about it except to say that it's like a gladiator ring to fight monsters and players plus you can be in the audience and bet. So that's pretty cool.

Which part? I can imagine most if not all of it can be made from rigging preexisting systems together - if they were serious it wouldn't be super obvious which systems they cut and rigged.

And water content/expansion is already planned so that would be one of the used / rigged for the content (blitz ball). (When the expansion happens I have no idea though, and it wont be at release / shortly after).

I never enjoyed blitzball in FFX.

If there were to be an athlectic sport in XIV, i'd rather see it something unique to Eorzea.
