While this is nice to hear, it saddens me to see the behaviour of all the people who raged over invitations rewarded.

I wouldn't say they were being rewarded, as far as I have seen the plan was always to keep adding more people with each stage.

They were always going to add more people yes, but not at the rate/scale they plan now...and they are doing it because everyone is complaining...Yoshi admitted it, and he said you can't even call it an alpha test anymore at that stage...its not a test, its just everyone playing with the alpha client. Quote from yoshi:
"From phase 4 we plan on conducting world merge testing, and we will decide on the schedule as we monitor the conditions of phase 3. However, since everyone's requests are so strong, we are looking into opening the Alpha Test worlds as close to the end of the year as possible. (We can’t really call it an Alpha Test then, but…)"
So yeah, good job everyone (that complained)! Your selfishness/unapologetic entitlement is being rewarded. I just hope it doesn't impact beta in any way(yoshi said it shouldnt), because let's face it - BETA is where all the interesting stuff will happen.

Really, if the producer can't keep his own way because people are complaining, yoshi is doing it wrong. Everyone know that people will complain, Yoshi first more than anyone.
Anyway i don't think that Yoshi got some problem because the people complain, otherwise he will open the world to a lot of more people now just to calm down everyone.

LOL What's wrong? Kappy are you QQ'ing over the good news? Is Alpha not special enough any more? Omg excuse me while I crack up behind my monitor xD
Alpha was going to end at the end of the year anyway. That was plainly stated in an interview..
Let's not have yet another round of QQ'ing over other people getting into Alpha plz.

No, I'm just pointing out what he said. I just thought it was absurd how crazy people were acting about not getting in.LOL What's wrong? Kappy are you QQ'ing over the good news? Is Alpha not special enough any more? Omg excuse me while I crack up behind my monitor xD

Let's not have yet another round of QQ'ing over other people getting into Alpha plz.honestly though I'm much more interested in beta (don't mind missing alpha invite), like I said...thats where we'll see the really cool stuff! I don't not want people to get in...I just don't see why people felt like they deserve it, or SE owes them it
I'm glad that you're not upset that more people are going to play the alpha client. I'm not sure EVERYONE who was complaining were acting absurd. There's nothing wrong with being disappointed, but acting like voicing disappointment is the same as "selfish, entitled, whiners" is just as absurd. (Though, yes, demanding that SE break it's own rules and reveal info, or spreading insane rumors about people who DID get in was pretty crazy.)
It was established that they were laying the groundwork for Beta before Global Alpha even opened. So by the time the "Alpha servers" are open thrown open at the end of the year, Alpha will be largely over. So I agree that this isn't even really a true "Alpha test". Two reasons for doing this were mentioned by Yoshi.
Of course there was a demand, but its not necessarily the fault of SE (SE being "selfish entitlement"). The Demand was created by the trailer that plenty of people admitted watching an embarrassing amount of times. Lots of people who would have wanted to play Alpha suddenly REALLY REALLY wanted it with sugar on top, plz plz plz plz plz....
*ahem*
Besides the "demand" was also the fact that the old game is not functioning. It was a tacit admission of what people understood all along, (and in Yuri's post), the longer servers are down the more delicate the link between FFXIV and its players. So tiding people over until release is something they need to do.....
All in all it was a good decision for the game. Yes some feedback (Yes, QQ'ing is feedback) will continue, but that's what Yoshi wants.
It's very funny that, in an interview, he was surprised at the lack of complaining happening (in closed Alpha that is). So I guess this was the first true strong reaction of Alpha and it was from the people that weren't even in it. So forgive him for acting so quickly. XD
I'll be happy to play again Alpha or Beta, whatever. I've been searching everywhere for a game to settle in and I keep coming back here. With this sad puppy look on my face.![]()

Um... should I remind people why ARR exists in the first place.Really, if the productor can't keep his own way because people are complaining,
