Every now and then, we'll pop into the Localization forum when the lore goes awry (though, I can't stress this enough, we don't go in there to just ask questions we're curious or confused about; but inquire about things that genuinely seem like inconsistencies and unintentional ambiguities possibly as a result of localization or development error after we've discussed them with others).

From the discussions we've had, and responses they've generated from team members like Fernehalwes, it really don't seem like too much was changed from its original purpose. It seems like many things were put on hold, a few connecting strands were intertwined, and new things were added.

Take Midgardsormr for instance. In September 2010, we were given the information that a primal stopped the Garlean advance pre-release, and then in the opening cutscene of 1.X, we see the Garlean advance being decimated by a giant, nameless dragon.

Many of us assumed that this dragon was the very primal we were informed about. However, in 2012, we were informed that this dragon was Midgardsormr and was not, in fact, a primal at all. Was this an inconsistency? Not at all, it turns out (to my pleasant surprise).

We later got confirmation (today in fact!) that the primal that halted the Garleans was never meant to be Midgardsormr, and its identity had been planned from the beginning but won't be revealed until ARR.

It really just seems like a lot of things were put on hold for Meteor.

We saw Gaius really ramping up his efforts in Future's Perfect - Answers may very well have always been intended to be a mournful moment in our struggle against The Empire.

You never know, though!
