May be FFXIV more FF than we thought?

So as I said, until the release of ARR I'm replaying all FF's through FF to FFXIII-2 (the main series, but I'm thinking on including the PSx tactics too) just the main story, not the secrets or 100% completion, so I can identify all the FF elements that Yoshi decides to include in ARR.

So, while replaying FF, I arrived at the Crescent Lake and... met with the Circle of Knowing. So, below are some of the things they told me (do not continue if you haven't played the original FF and want to, spoilers ahead):

So there are legends and prophecy that will be fulfilled, so I guess this is typical from a fantasy game, but it reminded me to Uradinger.

Hmm... Twelve Sages... lead by the stars and prophecy. Twelve gods... but the circle of knowing in FFXIV had six members... maybe some perished? if they truly are Allegan that's a high chance not all of them remain, or not all of them showed up? It's still suspicious...

Some fiends seized the power of the orbs (crystals)... like Bahamut maybe did through Atomos to the Aetherites? The similarities keep going...

Didn't the beastmen tribes had altars to summon the primals and we needed something special to be able to loot them? It's not the same but may be inspired, and we haven't crushed them for real anyway.

Ohhhh... what was that? the end of an era? Fiends (Primals) wanting world destruction? Where have I seem something like that?

We awoke the power of the echo by watching a light, then Luoisoix saved us through a light and at the end of the trailer a light shines making Lou smile...

Different Umbral eras caused by different elements?

Oh and also Garleans, Garlean Empire, etc.. sound too much like Garland, even the aesthetics are somehow similar. Also akin the Judges armors in FFXII, but those are probably based around the same idea.

So, what do you say, is the current lore of FFXIV more inspired on the original FF than we have been told? For me it sure seems that way, and I'm really loving it!

Post in this thread if you found other stuff too similar to other FF's as for now, that doesn't seem to be concidence, and no, FFVII meteor is too obvious . Or how would you tie other FF story/places/elements into XIV's world, with what we know so far...

I, GAIUS, SHALL KNOCK YOU ALL DOWN!

But seriously, if they really want to draw the parallel between FF1 and FFXIV, then the locations of the primal arena, when you have lines drawn between them, will have the lines intersecting at Silvertear Lake.

    Wouldn't that be convenient?

I liked how in FFIX there were two worlds in the same location but different dimensions, and were colliding to mutual destruction... may be that the void and the place where all the mobs and creatures summoned by atomos/bahamut, the primals real location, etc is another planet too? maybe it's dying for some catastrophe and they are just trying to survive... through the aether of Haydelyn!

Maybe the other Umbral eras were caused by the inhabiants of that planet tryign to survive using the resources of our world, and that's why the Allegans had to seal their leader, Bahamut, while they figured something to fix the whole deal? Yoshi said we will unveil stuff on the Labyrinth of Bahamut and whether or not we will fight him... we may not end up fighting him but helping him, and his world?

This article doesn't contain a whole lot on the topic of lore, but it does have some cool stuff nonetheless

I really noticed how the "Living on a prayer" GC quest was similar to the ffx story where yuna had to go round the world praying at all the temples before facing sin.

Yes, thanks, I always write it wrong, when I mean aesthetics.

This is probably well known but I thought I'd throw it in here:

Cid Garlond's story has striking resemblence to Cid's from FFVI. They both created Magitek for their respective empires, and they both joined the heroes after realizing what their creations are doing.

Cid from FFVI gives Kefka, the game's main antagonist, his power using Magitek. The reason I mention this is because Magitek used the power of the espers (which is why Cid decided to change sides) and you might have noticed that Darnus got his power from Dalamud (which is Magitek imprisoning a Primal [similar to Esper]).
What if Nael was the result of Cid's Magitek-cyborg experiments? This might explain why Nael had such a robot-like voice. What if Legatus and Gaius have the same technology in them?

Even more, it is said that the Garleans can't use magic, hence their heavy reliance on magitek. What if the true reason for the Garlean invasion is to gain more power by imprisoning the primals? Who's to say that when that ship crashed in the opening cut-scene that the primals came from the lake? What if the primals were already being imprisoned in the ship itself (similar to how Bahamut was imprisoned in Dalamud) and Midgardsomr was trying to save them from their captors? What if Midgardsomr sacrificed himself to free the primals once and for all and the Garleans want them back? Because if my guesses are true, the Garleans need the primals to power their Magitek (since they can't use magic themselves to power the machines, unlike Eorzeans).

The connection between the Espers' alternate dimension and the way the Maws connect Eorzea to the Primals' world seems similar too.

    As usual, all speculation.
