A friend have the old (current) game version of the game, and since he cant register the game now, will he be able to register when the ARR is on retail?

I would assume not as that really wouldn't make any sense. Those are products that can't be registered and aren't (shouldn't be) even sold anymore.
I don't think so to be honest. Square is having retailers destroy old copies, and since they're so dirt cheap now that would be a loophole in ARR. They need all the $$ they can get to recover the losses they incurred.
I read somewhere that the old registration code will work once ARR goes live if it hadn't previously been used. I'll try to find that information and post it here. I'm pretty sure it was something posted in an official capacity, like in an interview or a rep post quoting Yoshi.
Well if you cant register the old-key when ARR comes out... that's pretty bad, because ppl actually spent money in those copies, my friend have it and cant register right now, so it will be a waste of money for him, SE gotta accept them, otherwise its bad for their reputation... What else can he do with the game?
I read somewhere too that it can be done, but idk where :3
And i really meant once they go officially open!
Thanks guys btw.
On the other hand, then people could just get old copies now that they're basically free (yeah, they shouldn't be sold anymore but they are) and register them instead of ARR copies...
Unless they already have an active account, they still have to purchase the game files. There's always torrenting of course but not everyone is that saavy >.>

I think a translation from Soukyuu it says that old key will be able to register on 2.0.
