Well, I guess there goes all the conspiracy theories that the threads were being "deleted" by mods for underhanded purposes. Okay guys, you can take your tin foil hats off now!
the FF14 forum killed patience and understanding two minutes after it went live.
Whoa, guess that post wasn't so OK as it is no longer there!! (although I guess the poster could have removed it too?)
Come on SE, where in that NDA of yours does it say I can't say I received an "invitation" to the alpha? At that point I still have to decide whether or not I want to accept it. I may not accept it, or maybe I will.. all I'm saying is that an I received your email invite, not that I am a tester. I request clarification.. (like I'll get it LOL).
I wont fall for that trick! You must be an undercover SE agent trying to read my mind!
ALIENS!!
>.>
Though funny thing is that it appears anyone with a sort of history with the forums didnt get in lol - they dont want you to have FFXIV friends :P. Like Rein didnt get in? Wtf? lol
So no, showing your friends or family, indirectly or directly, is breaching NDA. It is thus up to you to ensure the environment you test the alpha in is controllable by your actions as to not let any sign of the testing be shown.2.6 Alpha Tester’s Confidentiality Obligations
“Confidential Information” shall mean (a) any and all information relating to or contained in the Products, Software, Documentation, or other materials supplied to Alpha Tester by Company in connection with the Alpha Testing, including, without limitation, information relating to the performance, conditions, capabilities, and contents of the Products and Software, methods of reporting and conducting, modification schedule, modification process and its progress in the Alpha Testing, AND RECIPIENT’S FEEDBACK, OPINIONS, SUGGESTIONS, AND COMMENTS (POSITIVE AND/OR NEGATIVE) REGARDING THE PRODUCT AND THE SOFTWARE, (b) the existence and the terms of this Agreement, (c) the Square Enix ID and password used by Alpha Tester, or by any other Alpha Tester, (d) THE IDENTITY OF ALPHA TESTER AND THE FACT THAT ALPHA TESTER IS PARTICIPATING IN THE ALPHA TEST, and (e) any and all information relating to the future or proposed products, services, or business operations of Company. Confidential Information includes, without limitation, all such information disclosed to Alpha Tester prior to the execution of this Agreement. Alpha Tester acknowledges and agrees that the Confidential Information constitutes valuable trade secrets of Company and (subject to the other terms of this Section 2.6) agrees to keep Confidential all Confidential Information, and only use Confidential Information in connection with Alpha Tester’s participation in the Alpha Test.
Alpha Tester shall not disclose, publish, distribute, transmit, post, or otherwise make available, directly or indirectly, any Confidential Information to Others. IN OTHER WORDS, YOU MAY NOT POST OR PUBLISH IN ANY WAY YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE ALPHA TEST OR YOUR OPINION OF THE NON-RETAIL VERSION OF FINAL FANTASY XIV ONLINE. However, at some point during the Alpha Test, Company may officially announce on the official Alpha Test website or via email that certain specified materials may be uploaded and published.
And you do not act on NDA; SE does. So if you violate NDA then do other law-breaking acts, that is entirely your choice, and SE does not have anything to do with it.
Laugh while you can. NDA isn't something to laugh about.
By rights, I have been breaching NDA by telling you about the NDA, but it appears no-one bothers to read it. Once people start using their literary skills and read every line of the NDA, maybe things will calm down.
Would not the invite be classified under 2.6 a)?Whoa, guess that post wasn't so OK as it is no longer there!! (although I guess the poster could have removed it too?)

I would classify invite emails as materials supplied to the alpha tester by the company.“Confidential Information” shall mean (a) any and all information relating to or contained in the Products, Software, Documentation, or other materials supplied to Alpha Tester by Company in connection with the Alpha Testing...

A wise man once said that all the whiners come from Sargatanas ...
Can you tell me where you read/saw this? Just knowing this would make me feel 1,000% better today. /sadpandaI'm sure they want to cater to the people who quit, to show them how much better 2.0 is, rather than us, the players they know will play for sure. And that makes sense, Yoshi said we all will be in the beta, but that may take some time and several waves of invites, depending on the needs of the tests.
I've seen other posts (not necessarily recently) where people believe everyone will have beta access and that in Beta will be able to make and keep progress on our current characters. I honestly don't care if this can be done or not, but if they do allow this, they damn sure better not keep anyone out. Allowing progress on current characters is not much different then actually playing the game, and keeping anyone out imo would be just wrong.
lol so true, but can you really blame this community? I mean we went through hell and back with this game and been through the times this game was pure crap, even people who stuck by when we had to pay. I can see SE catering to people who dis the game from the start because they're the ones that needs convincing , not us.
