It sucks for me because being from South America, the long holiday is now, when i end the university now on december and start on febrary and with less work and more free time it would be nice to have a chance to see the game a bit.

Holy crap, 29 pages in a single day... People seriously need to chill. I mean, c'mon, this is just alpha. There's not much to do yet. You can run around Gridania, spam jump, and that's it. Certainly nothing worth getting agitated about. Now, if I won't get into beta, then I'll get enraged.
You are lying, SE never disclosed their criteria for selecting applicants. Who and how they choose to be their test monkeys is not our affair any more than why they don't hire Reinheart. They changed their own rules for selection. They decided to go for something other than what was laid out in the rules and even though they can do whatever the hell they want with their test, this leaves much to be desired about them. You would expect a bit of congruity and consistency here.
lol trotsky I expected to see more by nowHoly crap, 29 pages in a single day... People seriously need to chill. I mean, c'mon, this is just alpha. There's not much to do yet. Don't you know?! They wanna be the first kid on the block with the "insider look" so they can boast to their buddies how cool they are! To hell with it being a broken game restricted to one area!Holy crap, 29 pages in a single day... People seriously need to chill. I mean, c'mon, this is just alpha. There's not much to do yet. well i didn't get invited to the alpha aswell, tho i have been playing 1.0 since day 1 when alpha started and i also gave lots of feedback, but it's obvious that SE would also like to draw in some feedback of the players that didn't stick to the game till the end.
the way current players view this game and how new players will react to it will be different in many ways, so will the feedback.but SE has already drawn in plenty of feedback by current players and is thus probably interested in feedback by outside players aswell.
Alpha/Beta tests are there to be tested obviously, but also to be played.
i guess it's save to say that SE did invite 50% new players and 50% old players to cover up the feedback they need.
best that can happen is that those that quit along time ago, or those that never took an interest in FFXIV will do so now, and start talking about it on different websites.
i don't think i will have to tell you how fanboys would react on the internet about 2.0, eh?
i guess everyone that sticked with this from beginning to end is kind of a fanboy.
atleast i can openly admit i am, but i welcome new players any time!

Make it happen.
"Global Alpha" probably just means more japanese. lol

If there are about 800 slots available, and they vary the invites even a little, it would be obvious that some people that didn't play much would get an invite. These people would probably also be more likely to break the NDA and start telling everyone. Until you know how many were invited, and the proportion of players that were hardcore to 'quitters,' any response or insight into how they are doing things is based on nothing real. XDI'm not whining because i didn't receive the alpha invitation, but a lot of my friend that have quit the game AFTER THE FIRST MONTH FROM THE RELEASE GOT IT! And me (and others of course) supporting the game and paying for the crappy 1.0, didn't receive it.
Only who had an active FFXIV account was supposed to get the invitation right?
Now tell me dear SE, for the love of god WHY???
It was a kind of application site bug? If this was wanted? Just need clarification about this.
So far i have seen posts in a few threads ... only about 4-5 people say they knew someone or a few people that got invites that didn't play much during 1.0. So that is about 10-15 people out of how many invites that went out? (200?, 400?, 800?) ... Just think about all the hardcore players that got in that you didn't know on your server or other servers that actually got in, and are smart enough not to risk losing their alpha accounts by breaking the NDA and telling everyone.
