It would have been nice if SE told everyone what they where looking for though. Like:

"Hey Everyone,

We are pleased announce the first wave of Alpha invites! We know everyone is excited to get in but we only have limited seating, rest assured we will increase the pool as time and success goes on.

The current test group was chosen by putting players into X groups, we dont want you cuz you evil, your computer is hawt, your computer is not, you can play any time all the time, enthusiastic/experienced and or crazy forum posters. We took Y Z groups divided them and then randomly picked from them.

If you didnt get in there will be many opportunities in the future as we increase the player pool for testing, we hope to get everyone in for beta so please look forward to it!

Something like that but better written I think could have stopped a lot of "SE is Satan's minion".

And if they had done that then EVERYONE would have "met the requirements" even if some had to lie about them. I dont remember if it took a system scan and uploaded your specs to them or not, if there was then that would be the only way to keep applications legitimate. Random within certain categories is the best way to go and no matter what, someone will be left out and that someone will not be happy.

They recorded your system specs. Also they had a questioner and can use forum / game data to decide. I assume they put preference to past alpha testers as well. I'm fairly certain they at least made 3 groups.

Someone will always be mad but with transparency less would be so.

That is what SE did, but they didn't make things public... what it seems to me they did was classify all applicants in to group A,B,C,D.... depending on the application answers.... and then they picked X amount of people from each group and made a wave... for future alpha they will do the same except people who are in this one can't be in any future alpha's (guessing here)...

I'm pretty sure you carry through each phase of alpha - but the invite doesnt count towards beta.

That makes little to no sense because everyone would have the same answers.As for the criteria to get in who knows,but most Alpha/Beta tests try and mix testers by things like what kinda of interent provider say Verizion,Comcast or whatever and things like hardware or location.

Obviously they cant tell you how they chose a testing group without choosing the testing group which means its too late to rig your app. Also they do not have to maintain choosing parameters through each phase. (Or that people already rigged their app so it doesn't matter).

Not only that but some of the things might just be arbitrary or not fake-able like being in the past Alpha (1.0).

U should grow up a little(Mom comment) I simply stated we don't how they picked who got in and who didn't,but some of the things i stated have some bearing in other beta tests i've done before.The bottom line is alot of people didn't get invite to the Alpha this time and railing here isn't gonna open any doors for anyone to get in any faster....deal with it!

What i don't get is why do people feel entitled to be a part of the alpha.. It's not a test the game phase, but stress test/and bug squash... nothing more. There is nothing special about the people who got chosen, same way there's nothing bad about the people who did not. As stated there will be a few waves of alpha testers, and the people chose for one will not be in the next... Meaning that the people who get in at latter waves will have a more solid game to test/try...

Again no reason for rage exists, each wave has a small window of time to do what's needed before the next wave get a turn... considering how every one does everything different even if it's the small things. SE would gain more if they have a greater diversity of people to have a spin at the testing. Every one will get a swing, being the first to bat does not make one more special then consequent players.

For the love of . . . look they did tell us pretty much. Remember, you had to actually fill out an application, and it wouldn't let you if you didn't meet their requirements. Even if they went with the strictest meaning of active account (played from start to finish) there would still be no guarantee that you'd have gotten it at this stage. This is seriously not a huge issue one way or the other. I just cannot understand the petulance on display here. It really is a depression commentary on just how immature "adults" have become.

God FORBID a company who wishes to ALPHA test a product for bugs, crashes and functionality select from a DIVERSE pool of applicants with infinitely different PC builds and specs, your physical locations, as WELL as what ISP you have over just who chose to pay for 1.0 and who didn't.

It's alpha testing... not a reward for your loyalty. That's what Legacy is for.

If Player X, and player Y paid the entire time, and Player Z quit, But player X and Y have the SAME general specs, are in the SAME area, have the SAME ISP and the company picks player X, then decides to pick player Z because they are somewhere else, have vastly different specs, a different ISP and will be able to provide different data that they need... it's only logical.

Don't start raging and think you're more deserving of someone else. Accept the fact that maybe.. just maaaaybe they had ENOUGH people with your exact specs in, and decided to go with someone else who could provide what the need. The SAME with Beta if it is also limited. We are here to provide the needed data.
