It didnt even have to be Legacy members. Even if it were just players who played more than 3 months TOTAL, would have been nice.
From the other thread
I'm sure its been said over and over, but I feel like the ALPHA should have been dedicated players. Players who know how to play in general, so they can help find bugs and help stress test with little guidance.
Then for the first wave BETA they could have invited all those people who quit the game long ago. Hopefully by first wave Beta most of the prominent wrinkles would have been smoothed out.
Alpha is not for showing off.
Honestly it doesn't matter to me how long someone played 1.0, all I care about is whether they're willing to actively play the alpha and break everything they can.
That being said I'm still sad about not getting in myself![]()
Precisely. Alpha is for testing, not showing off. Are you telling me that every single person who has complained on these forums is willing to test, and not use their status as a symbol of higher ordeals? Are you telling me that people with progression in 1.0 somehow know what to test perfectly in an alpha of what can be said to be a new game? Are you telling me that SE, for testings, do not require new testers who do not bear the influence of FFXIV?
From a criticising point of view, I would say those who quit ages ago would be less easily pleased and thus more nit-picky about the game, which is what I think Yoshi-P wants. Not to mention that AS THEY HAD TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION, they have as equal a chance of getting into alpha as the rest of us, judging only by the answers they supplied in the application.
So, are you telling me that someone who didn't cared about this game, who missed the changes on game mechanics for last months/years, is NOW willing to spend time and test (what exactly? the improvements or changes on mechanics from 1.0?) something they blammed? something they completely missed? they are going to suddenly find the desire to help and stay here for 8hours a day?Precisely. Don't you thinks is more likely they are going to stick their nose and see how flashy the new thing looks?
Except none of that matters whatsoever to this alpha test. Everyone is stress testing a completely new game. Knowing what old Gridania looked like isn't some magical know-how that will help you find bugs in this version.
