Possible idea for future new Race...?

Poaching races from Ivalice is not going to cut it. Inventing a completely new race is the best option, the only sensible option.

well but at least you could say "i want something in that direction, if you dont like those existing races" i dont think that yoshida wants to introduce an existing race.

Nice! I'd completely missed that poll.

I kinda like the Burmecians, too.. Although they seem somewhat reminiscent of Qiqirns... Though I like Qiqirns as well, so go figure.

Also much like my brother and his girlfriend, my vote if there's any Ivalice inspired races would be Gria.

I remember back when it was theorized that they would be an additional playable race. I don't recall if it was ever hinted or suggested (by Tanaka) that they might be eventually or not.

If they're not too core to the lore/storyline of the game, it's a possibility, I think. It's certainly "neutral" enough between being "too beast-like" and not going with all out Viera-like races.

How quickly you think people would be trying to name their characters 'Ico' or 'Wander'?

Honestly though, unless they allow race changes as a micro-transaction at some point down the road, the point is kinda moot since this game isn't one of those that you make a new character for every class you play. Sure, it can be done, but the majority of people that play this game treat it like FFXI and do everything on one character.

gladly they are not. grias are completely kitchy in my opinion (in 3D the most). many western players would just dislike FFXIV because of this devil winged race trust me. its too anime alike.

and seriously i cant imagine a gria in whitemage robe or dragoon armor... with his red demon wings on his back... oh gosh. it would destroy the look of the game

For now, yes. But down the road, I think it's assumed that new people will come to the game and they'd have that option.

And, with an expansion, they may very well give people the option for like, a "one-time race change" or something.

Otherwise, yeah I agree. This game doesn't exactly encourage alt-itis where additional characters are concerned.

I'm trying to imagine what a draconian race might look like, where it would look "beast-like", but not "too much" as Yoshi's expressed concern about. I keep thinking of the biped-form for the dragon race in Istaria lol. Here's a pic of what I mean.
