    it'd be a hassle to find your friends, and if the results of the event do something to the enviroment (similar to the beastmen attacking aht urghan) it'd be impossible to design around (in the scenario one instance wins and the other loses).

    personally I'm fine with an area saying you cant enter atm in the off chance it has over 1k people. they did something similar in xi.

    I think putting a lock-out on the zone is a terrible idea. Imagine if they try to do a zone event like the last day of the 1.0 servers. People would be constantly trying to zone into Mor Dhona, getting that annoying 'zone full' message. But they will keep trying, and it will cause issues for the server, create lag and instability. Not to mention the dramas and complaints they would receive from players locked out of the zone and unable to partake in the event. The Hour of Reckoning with it's crashes and lag was bad enough, how do you think people will react to find out they can't join in just because they were not in the zone early enough to beat the 1000 other players that will turn up for it. This will happen.

    Sure, 'normally' there wouldn't be that many people in one zone at a time, and that's fine, but when they do an event that only happens in one zone on a one time occasion, they are going to get serious problems. If a server takes 5000 players, then where are the other 4k of players going to go during the event? Some won't log on for the event of course, but easily over a thousand would.

    They only have to look at what happened with 1.0 Hour of Reckoning, and Guild Wars 2 Lost Shores Event to see how game servers can't handle the demand such an event places on them. In both accounts, I suspect they got way more people logging into the events than expected.


    They have to do instances, like GW2 - they just need better servers than ArenaNet has.


    When I read the translation of that interview I was disgusted they were even having trouble deciding between which method to adapt. There isn't any choice, it must be instances.

    On topic, Yoshi said that he played many games over the course of 1.0 being re-hauled. If you have played guild wars 2 you would know exactly what they plan to do if a zone it over crowded as someone has already mentioned. You will be put in a overflow area. It will be a zone that puts all characters from all worlds in this overflow. You will then enter a queue in which you will be ported into the your own world zone. This is based on who was before you.

    I believe this is truly how they will do it because if you have played guild wars 2 you will notice that "FATE" or Full Active Time Event which is being planed to be test in the beta form is exactly like a dynamic event in Guild Wars 2. If they took this from Guild Wars 2, i am sure they were bright enough to bring the queue system too.

    I'm really confused as to how I some of you people think I typed this out as a complaint ?
    This is an issue that could occur I said. For one of you people who said anima will solve the issue well guess what they're going to make anima less usable or more precious.

    It's a really big turnoff for other players to find out that they are locked out of an area an cannot cross to the next place.
    Yes Instances could be a solution and with that I guess this really doesn't matter but remember with instances being created there will be a higher pull of resources having to recreate all those mobs for that instance as well so 1 server might be running several copies of some of the same zones. I'm not saying instances are good are bad. I don't mind them at all.

    This isn't a complaint and I'm pretty sure in testing phases this issue possibly won't show up as an issue as most likely players will login for 2-3 day an leave. We'll lose about 30% population during testing phase because most people will just have wanted to check it out have alittle feel of it an leave.

    As someone has previously stated in this thread. You don't wait for the issue to appear you have to think ahead of time befor it actually becomes a problem. That's like trying to trying to take a tum when the heartburn already occurred xD.

    Anyways Instancing can solve this issue guess we'll have to wait for players to actually complain about it an lose future players that won't want to wait for a [Fix].
