Can we have GM's lend a hand in epic events?

I'd think it be cool if there were special GM's to lend a hand during Field battles or epic events during the game to boost player's Role play and imagination morale. Like a GM taking role in a fight of course they can't be over powered but have special skills like status boosting or debuff to the Enemy. Somewhere down the lines of that. what does the player base think of such idea?

I love it when GMs get involved and interact with the players on some level, specifically GM-led events.

Not sure if that's in the works for Yoshi-P and the team, but I think it'd be a great addition and really give a more "hands-on" feel to the game that is sorely lacking in most MMOs.

I can see a special event for PVP but not PVE.

I think it would be great if we had a GM play an NPC that we had to work with.
You know all those boring "defend the NPC" events that everyone hates because the NPC is dumb as bricks.
Now imagine if we could have something similar (as an event of course) and the GM played that NPC, and could actually be very usefull

Well we did have a fair amount of GM intereaction during verion 1.xx so I certainly do hope it continues into 2.0 and SE doesn't get all corporate on us by leaving the GM's to only their "official" duties and not let them have fun rick rolling us.

Would be neat if they took on the role of "famous" NPCs, like the PLD npc, or make up some generals for each army and they can play them during certain FATEs.

Sorry for the long post, but I want to share my experience with a live event we had in Excalibur, that probably also happened in the other servers.

We had a blast with the GM Rep Deitsu, just wish I had taken more screenshots or recorded it. The first funny thing he did to us was that after we killed all the goblins in Uldah, he told us to check the chocobo stables because something seemed weird with the chocbo's leg, and once everyone was at the stables, bam! 12 or more Chimeras were spawned lol.

Later on he got more serious though and began with the invasion of the imperials, and even saying something as cheesy as "You know what they say: When you mess with the empire, the empire strikes back!" And claiming that the fact why we couldn't see people at times (obviously character limit) was 'cause the imperials had a fog creating mechanism.

But I think that above all, my favorite experience was when an afk player got killed by some of the mobs in town, he actually improvised and used him as part of the event. He asked many to raise him, and after seeing he was still afk, this happened to his body:



and soon enough void creatures spawned


The GM then explained that the player had become consumed by the Void and then once we killed the creatures, the GM approached the dead afk player again and an orb of light appeared over him, and poof, he was gone, and he told us he sent him to a safe place where he can recover.



And for those who were there... I'm sure you can't forget about that Imperial Guy!! (I know Cloudio never will!)



^^ I think that was super creative of the GM! So yeah, not only am I in favor of GMs being part of events, but also being fun and creative!

I remember in a different MMO, there was a special dragon boss that only spawned once every several says, and on occasion the GMs would personally take control of its AI to give the player alliances an added challenge. The gm would also roleplay with the players in speech.
