    i need to format my "pc" can i reinstall v1.0 and patch and still paly?

    my computer has come to a point where i must format. My wife got (i think) a nasty virus on it and it wont shutdown, it is slow and all kind of weird things (lesson learned)

    I have not done it becuae of my fear that i will be unable to re-install thegame patch it and play hopefully alpha or beta.

    any comments on this?

    alpha/beta = new client, so if you do get invite, you still need to download the new client and install.

    as for the reinstall.. of 1.0.. not sure./

    I'm sure the patcher still works, and that you won't have problems by formatting and reinstalling.

    but didnt it was mentioned that we needed the current client for the "character creator benchmark"? I could be wrong though. But i wont use this PC for anything else than gaming... so i will format at some point. but if i can safely reinstall v1.0 and still play ill do it today.

    ill do it then.. in fact ill go buyme a SSD to just have win7 on there and everthing else on the other HDD...

    Sierra... you have a very very similar pc as me... may i ask if you still think AMD >intel.? Why did you choose amd? i am thinking to go back in furture years to intel....

    The patcher should still work since I had to reinstall ff14 when I upgraded to windows 8. It surprisingly ran better in 8 than in vista. The only problem with he reformat is that you need your original launcher. If you have the disc or the installation file you should be fine. Do be aware that the updating process will take forever.

    No, you only need the folder that's in Documents>MyGames>FinalFantasy XI. The beta will pull character settings from this folder.

    You can uninstall the 1.0 game if you have no desire to log back in to the old servers. You won't need it for alpha/beta

    you could just copy FFXIV map from the hd to the ssd. You won't be able to find it in the start menu, but you can still make links from the programs inside the map.

    To bypass patching, before the format go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Square Enix there should be a Final Fantasy XIV folder, copy that to an external HDD, re-format, install windows, and FFXIV, copy the files back (overwriting everything) and bang no need to patch because you are already up to date, no waiting forever to download, no worrying if the patch server is up no nothing.
