This could very well be a coincidence, but the name seems very similar to Xande from FFIII.
- The emperor Xandes (sp?) of the Allagan Empire is not dead. He is actually in a cold sleep chamber. Yoshida-san wants us to speculate whether Nael was trying to bring Dalamud down to awaken the Emperor and whether the appearance of the Crystal Tower signifies the Emperor's awakening or not.
Is it possible we might see a reappearance of this overlooked FF villain?
Haven't we already seen a picture of the garlean emperor? I think he is on the ARR website.
Oh yeah, my mistake lol.
I think hes supposed to be an allusion/reference to said FFIII Emperor like the Crystal Tower is to its counterpart in FFIII. Or like how Garland in FFIX is an allusion/reference to the original Garland of FF.

I don't think it's a coincidence at all - looks like another reference to FFIII.
"An enormous, vast, gigantic, underground tower! Do you not see? <sigh> Of course you don't... It could only be the lost tomb of Xandes─the first emperor of Allag of whom I spoke mere moments ago. But wait, there it more to tell! You see, it is impossible that a normal building, however large, could release so much ethereal energy. An immense crystal on the other hand─that most certainly could."Aye, it happened. The Crypt of Xandes I lies in the depths of Silvertear Falls. What you saw took place there, when van Darnus finally tracked me down. I thought myself as good as dead.

They did mention that Cloud of Darkness will be in there. I don't think a final boss from another FF has ever been in another main entry before.
I wonder what race he would be... Roegaydn? Highlander? Elvaan?
