    We are currently in the "maybe" and "could" zone since ARR is not nearly released yet. The best way for us all would be a non-loading world, but larger areas with lots of people and lots of mobs/npc's do generate stress on the server. Isolatiing the zones will make the server go smoother. Thats a fact.

    for those who say it takes 2-3 seconds .... dont forget it's alpha version ... who knows how long it'll be in the final version?
    cause now in alpha .. only area around gridinia is available .. that's why its fast ...

    as for zoning .. I liked the idea after i knew from you guys the reason behind it

    even if it will take up to 5 or 8 seconds to zone in the final game/with EU/NA lag, you guys are forgetting something pretty important: with seamless zones we were often forced to walk into corridors while the next zone is loading properly. Corridors that hide anything from your sight and force you to keep walking for 15 or 20 seconds, maybe something less with a chocobo.

    (That is, when we didn't just run into invisible mobs of course)

    So yeah, much better to leave it to the game for a couple of seconds than having to keep giving imput for twenty-ish, and heck, you even get your chance to rest your eyes a bit too.

    I think this would be cool if they were to make something like this.

    In one interviews or live letter Yoshi mentioned they did want to do that, but the zoning was so fast you could barely see the picture so it seemed pointless.

    Loading between zones also depends on how fast your hdd is. If your playing on a ssd the loading from one zone to another will be faster than on a regular hdd.

    The benefits of zoning outweigh any kind of feelings of "grandeur", which you pretty much forget one week in. I always hated walkig through all the long ass buffer zones. The black shroud was the worst of all.
