Zones allow for more variety and are also much easier to manage technically.

As much as I LOVED the open areas in 1.0 (I'll never forget the first time I explored Coerthas... Just beautiful) gameplay and enjoyment wise changing to zones is probably for the best.

Get up out of bed, zone out of Inn.
Want to hear shouts on the main strip of Ul'dah? Move to that zone (albeit invisible it is still a zone)
Get onto Chocobo from city? Zone.
Get on Ferry or Airship? Zone.
Walk from Thanalan to black shroud. Zone

... No I do not mind zoning in 2.0, if its easier on the development team; all the better.

Well they said the reason all the areas in a zone looked the same and why there tons of reused textures was because they made the game as zoneless as possible. But then people complained about the same looking zones so they said ok, we'll make the zones look unique but you'll have to 'move' between them with a loading screen.

    Now people complain again. nice.

I much prefer the new way of zoning, we can now have very different environments thanks to it.

I'll take a loading screen to transition between more creative zones any day.

Besides.... loading screens on PC aren't really a problem.. lol

I'm a fan of the FFXII style zonelines and loading screens they seem to be implementing.

Honestly, I did like how vast the 1.0 world seemed to be, but once you figure out it's only an illusion, it kinda lost its charm. I'm fine with zonelines, especially if the transition is as fast as the Alpha footage is making it seem.

I like what they've done compared to what we had originally, but seamless zones can be done correctly.
