People are looking for patterns where there are none.
They said about 1 in 6 people in the states got on, and 1 in 3 from europe, 1 in 4 from Japan.
They are favoring testing proportions in Europe due to nearly twice as many people in Europe reporting severe lag issues over the US.
Japan has a fair amount too, as they were defaulted home nation of the devs.
Now, to the point:
The numbers are not designed to be inversely proportional to those who have played for so long as to feel they deserve something.
They spoke of two major influences of beta access: XIII beta key and activity in 1.0.
Now lets see what Alpha is meant to be, based on Yoshi's notes and the tour videos:
Presentation
New largely customizable interface, faster menu response times, redesigned overworld map, and others. Main missions are not yet implemented.
Graphics
Graphics engine has been beefed up considerably, with many core models entirely rebuilt from the ground up. Eye candy abundant, although only performing at a fraction of live capabilities.
Sound
New music, but limited sound effects in Alpha.
Gameplay
A flexible class system but limited to 2 disciplines of war, 1 of magic, 2 of hand and 1 of land. 2 race choices with genders pre-decided. Combat & other activities are still utilizing incomplete interfaces and performance. Questing is few and far between, as alpha testing is meant to test server loads and stability, not thorough content exploration.
Lasting Appeal
Again, lack of content results in very short term appeal.
In Beta, they will need many more people, as much more content will be implemented, more worlds, and more people needed to test.
The less they worry about gratifying us with content, the more they can get the content "properly" ready. Give them the time to do their job. if you get in, you get in, and it will be entirely based on SE's needs, not your own.
/rant off
Well I heard from a person who heard from a person who worked as the doctor of a janitor who used to go to grade school with another janitor who works at SE that Santa DID get an invite, and he's NOT AN ACTIVE MEMBER!![]()
After playing a crap ton of Phoenix Wright, mostly all the witnesses lie. lol >.> But seriously though, unless it has been stated as solid evidence by a Rep that this is exactly what is going on, then there is sadly no real way to prove it, and by then, there wouldn't be any reason to prove anything.
To be honest, I don't know if it was the application requirements that are misleading, or all of these supposed people that got invites.
I'm laughing right now at the mere trolling that's going on... I have to speak with Lucretia on a Tactic to stop this Mayham! * Goes to the War room with the 108 stars!*
Only that witnesses are proof. One person made an allegation and multiple witnesses confirmed it (and in an environment in which posting false information is punishable, mind you). Unless you can somehow disprove what the witnesses say, the case is iron clad.
Again, go right ahead if you can.

What if like.. and this may sound crazy, but... what if everyone was just saying all of this, and there really wasnt a global alpha? :O!!!
If there are witnesses, I like to talk with them. If you know your right you shouldn't have a problem hearing your witnesses. Surely you can't object to that?
