In absence of an official denial, there's plenty reason to believe multiple reports, especially when corroborated by the fact that applying for the alpha with an inactive account is proved to work now, when it previously didn't.

As for me, before I disbelieve a long standing member of this forum and the many others in the thread that confirm what he says (that could be banned if the information he posts proves to be false, as per rules, and guess what, they're not banned), I'll wait for contrary evidence.

So far, I've seen none.

He was referring to one of many "reports" that this has been happening. Maybe they aren't true, maybe they are, but they are indeed "reports" of the very same scenario.

Yeah, we could all probably provide proof of that before I could provide proof of people without an account getting into alpha, though. lol Ah well, much ado about nothing. :P

That's exactly the matter. The backlash about this phase hopefully will encourage SE to keep to the rules they stated themselves for the next.

Past errors teach for the future.

This is what I am hoping for, but nothing has been proven or has been set in stone. Out of the many applicants who have applied for the alpha test, have got chosen. We were just some of the unlucky ones, or maybe we just have a better chance at getting into a more complete testing phase where we can test out the content that matches our interests on the test application. That would seem to be more likely and fit for the situation.
