Climbing mirrors again I see. That's the evidence that such a rule exists, not that it hasn't been broken. The allegations state that the rule has been broken, not that it was never mentioned to begin with.

SE has nothing to lose and everything to gain by officially refuting the allegations, if they are false, that is.

The judgement on whether delete, lock or merge topics lies by the moderator. If people on the english forums would finally get it into their heads that opening 10 different threads on the same topics with different formulations doesn't do anything except inciting spam of repeated posting in all those 10 threads. Other language forums don't seem to be having this problem, why does this one do?
But that thread was not on the same topic and didn't just have a different formulation. It was on a very specific issue not covered by any other thread that I saw. You're digressing, I'm afraid.

And no, no serious moderating team leaves the decision to delete or lock threads to the sole discretion of the single moderator, there are policies in place, regulating how to respond to any specific situation (and they are in place mainly to avoid PR blunders), and previous issues shown us that the policy for this kind of case isn't deletion. Also, deletion of a whole large thread over an issue of duplication is not considered kosher in any forum handled seriously, which is why it looks very suspicious here.
