Yay, it's very nice to get the info beforehand, well done!
Would it be possible to tell us 1. if the invites are only for the players with currently active characters, and 2. how many people will receive an invite for the Alpha on 28th?

Taking a logical guess, my assumption is there should be more then 2000, possible 3000+ per region, that will get picked.Originally Posted by Taika

From Y-P, we know the existing servers starts to lag when it hit the 800 mark, and the dev-team are working on the top 20 lag issues. As they chip away the bugs that 800 cap will only get higher. With less then 1000 testers per server then you must have all the testers from the region login at the same time. But unlike JP, NA/EU both span across different time zones, therefore 1000 is a very low floor to ensure the server reaches that 800+ cap, so 2000 is a bit more safe to have enough testers to really stress the servers at its max load, with 3000 giving even more padding.
Then you add in the fact that they like to keep the servers up 24x7 ...
Hope SE is thinking the same way. ;p

I wonder about this myself, I was thinking if it would be helpful to them.Taking a logical guess, my assumption is there should be more then 2000, possible 3000+ per region, that will get picked.

I leave my comp on 24/7 as is better for it in the long run actually.
But if SE coordinated with fans to leave their chars logged in for a certain day, take of autologoff or w/e if there is one in ARR alpha.
Could get a good example of how things run at max threshold at all times, and try to adjust off that.
That being said they probably are doing this or something similar.
Maybe I've read incorrectly, but every time Yoshi referred to that 800 cap he was referring to individual zones. He would say that once a certain zone reached a player amount of 800, it began to lag and have other issues. It's an issue of simultaneous use by a large number of players; less that the server can't handle that many people being on it overall. Again, someone can correct me if I'm wrong but that was my impression. He keeps referring to "zone servers".Taking a logical guess, my assumption is there should be more then 2000, possible 3000+ per region, that will get picked.

If that's the case he can realistically invite more than 3000 per region since his apparent goal was to have 60% of those who are invited to be on the servers while they're running.

This is known.
A chance for an invite is only available for anyone who applied to the freaking alpha.
For being able to apply to the alpha, you had to be a subscriber during the time the applications were up.
There's no way they're telling.
