That's a good sign that I'm just a balanced poster with a rather realistic point of view that will praise when it's due and criticize when it's warranted.
Yay me.
Sure. I think that's very possible. Still, would you bet your alpha account on it?![]()

not to throw gas on the fire BUT... How could you have applied for alpha with an inactive account? and those who got in with an inactive account how did that happed? I was under the impression in order for you to apply you had to sign in? or am i wrong?

Good question.
You can sign in with an inactive account. Always could. You just can't post in the forums, play the game and do other tasks that are reserved to active accounts.
The caveat, though, is that initially you could sign in, but if you tried to actually apply for the alpha, it would bounce you telling that your account is inactive and you're not eligible. This went on at least for a few weeks.
After a while (no one knows exactly when, but it's probable that it happened when SE allowed access to the game to all accounts for the final event), even inactive accounts began to be able to apply for the alpha.
Even now, if you try with an inactive account, you'll be able to sign in and apply with no issue

People have applied with an inactive (XIV registered but not currently playing) account. Soukyuu tested it:

SE has no problem with us mentioning we're apart of the Alpha ... we just can't discuss what's going on or give any information.
.. see ... now is everyone happy?

You are wrong :x
People really need to read the NDA in its entirety -
http://support.na.square-enix.com/ru...a=1&tag=tester
Skip to the juicy bit~ (section 2.6)
(d) THE IDENTITY OF ALPHA TESTER AND THE FACT THAT ALPHA TESTER IS PARTICIPATING IN THE ALPHA TEST, and (e) any and all information relating to the future or proposed products, services, or business operations of Company. Confidential Information includes, without limitation, all such information disclosed to Alpha Tester prior to the execution of this Agreement. Alpha Tester acknowledges and agrees that the Confidential Information constitutes valuable trade secrets of Company and (subject to the other terms of this Section 2.6) agrees to keep Confidential all Confidential Information, and only use Confidential Information in connection with Alpha Tester’s participation in the Alpha Test.
Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means

Nope. The agreement is very clear in the fact that you can't disclose your participation to the test.
I suggest not posting misinformative info like this. While not so likely, it could cost some people their account (it would still be mostly their fault, but some are easily confused).
Edit: meh, Nix beat me to it. Well played ma'am.

The boss man himself gave us the thumbs up :-)

While Yoshida doesnt represent SE as a legal arbiter (I think... not impossible.. unlikely) I'm sure if Yoshida said so then the reps and gms would uphold the bosses word as if pardoned in the NDA.
But yeah.. as Abriael said .. SE could say Yoshida didnt have legal rights and legally kill your account anyways.
