Animation blending will help a lot in combat so when you are attacking but then go to use a weapon skill your character doesn't look like he resets and instead its all carried out in one fluid motion. Or like when running and then you stop suddenly you can have it blend into a stand rather then just suddenly jolt up right.

There are other aspects like physics to animation (turning so sharp changes animation) that aren't necessarily animation blending but they are usually (and I hope) put together.
Interesting thanks for that. Yoshi-P has noted iirc Physics haven't been placed into the Alpha yet either so this combined with that should hopefully alleviate the running/jump issues a lot of people (including myself in regards to the running) have.
