Question for the reps on server transfers and already-taken names

Hello reps!

A friend of mine is in a situation where they want to transfer to my server. They would like to keep their current name as it's their first MMO and have rightfully become attached to it after playing for a few months. The issue at hand is that there is a character already using that name that is level 1, no XP earned at all so it is most likely a mule or someone that messed around with the character creator during the extended free-to-play period this game had. Can the devs give any information regarding who would get priority on the name in ARR?

I would also like to know how this will be handled since a lot of people made tons of mules or just quit. Most MMOs generally erase characters under lvl10 when it comes to mergers. Anything lvl1 that gets priority over anything lvl10+ is really unfair.

Probably the same way that they have always handled names in transfers. Whoever made the character first gets to keep it

That is a a half ass way to deal with name conflicts. Why would someone who played at launch, made a lvl1 and quit because it wasn't FFXI enough for them ever have rights over a 50? Especially if the person has paid the monthly fee. I really hope it isn't so.

Who every made it first keep it sorry that just how it works ;( yoshi-p said this many time and that just how it going to work best thing to do is go to a world that allow you to keep your name
