Well, as long as we can shoot arrows/cast magic from our higher vantage, I hope we can move this into a tactical choice.

Ifrit spawning plumes/cracks? Head to higher ground for safety.

Been perched up in the rafters like Batman/Ezio for too long? Better move before you incur the wrath of Hellfire/Aerial Blast/Momento Moogle/Megaflare/etc.

I think this could be expanded on to provide a decent mechanic for gameplay.

But you're probably too busy worrying about how shitty the grass looks, right?

I'm amazed at the fact that despite the jump hate being pointless and near the bottom of the "things that matter" list, it persists.

PS: There really needs to be a free company on every server called Jumpocalypse in 2.0.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

Really? We're back to complaining about jump? It's here to stay and I for one welcome it with open arms. If you can't stand it then FFXI still doesn't have jump.

I can't believe Preypacer and one or two people are basically the only ones with reading comprehension skills... or with a little common sense.

I'll end up basically repeating what's been said already since people seem too thick to grasp it:
    1. This thread isn't against jumping.
    2. In fantasy settings the rules of realism are reestablished based what is believable (which is sustained by logic). For example: A wizard harnesses the elements of nature and casts a spell, depleting his mana. He is out of mana, so he can't keep casting. If the wizard were to cast another spell people would cry "no way, he's out of mana!". But they wouldn't complain about the fact it's a guy using magic.
    3. The tent has been modeled to mimic fabric's consistency (you can see it in the folds). Having a bunch of people jump up and down on it is a direct contradiction of what is being shown. Thus it becomes unbelievable in a fantasy environment.
    4. Yoshi has already stated that invisible walls are being positioned in cliffs that go nowhere or that are too high to jump. So the concept of invisible walls IS here. It IS being applied.

I find it hilarious that in a game with wizards and magic, dragons and walking mushrooms that ppl are so concerned to realism when it comes to jumping. How come no one has brought up the fact that when you cast a fire spell the grass doesnt get singed, shouldnt that be burned to a crisp? Or if I get hit with a water spell how come I dont get wet or there is no puddle left? If you want to talk about logic and reason how come these issues are never addressed and any arguement you can make for the aether and its properties can easily be applied to tears in fabric too. You dont know its not magic cloth that will fold and flow in the breeze but will still withstand a players boots do you?

This kind of nitpicking is amusing if nothing else

The only nitpicking here is yours. No, the tent isn't magical. Don't be an idiot. If you have nothing to argue, don't argue. Geez.

Why don't we get wet? Can't waste resources on an mmorpg, thats why.
Go play an uncharted, you get wet there.

SE is already using invisible walls to enforce realism. Apparently jumping off a somewhat tall cliff takes higher priority than jumping on top of weak structures. But it's already being applied.
It isn't even a matter of coming up with something new. Its just telling the company "hey! you know how we can't jump off high cliffs? don't let us stand on top of tents either!"

If you can't waste resources in an MMORPG, then why waste it on a damn tent? Everyone already confirmed that they bought a Tuff Shed. If it can stand a motocross bike riding on it, it can stand binary numbers on top of it.

How do you know? In a world filled with magic, its only logical they would imbue cloths and leathers used in things such as tents that are meant to survive the harsh and wild world and roughness of adventurers with magics to make them last longer.
