Seasonal Event Love

This thread is for the discussion of seasonal/holiday events in FFXIV and other MMOs. This thread is not a discussion about how well the dev team is using their time in relation to the events or other content.

What kind of holiday/seasonal events do you want to see in FFXIV and what content would you deem acceptable for them? Also what are your thoughts on past events and how could they be improved? What seasonal/holiday events from any MMO were your favorite?

Personally I was okay with some of the "Bell" events we had though I know they can do much better in the years to come. Getting a gear set for the Winter event was pretty nice and in contrast getting just a few food items from the Valentine's Day event was kind of lame.

I see the events coming around this year simply as placeholders so we know what events to expect each year. I certainly hope that the team will come up with some great ideas for some spectacular events in the coming years.

I would love to see a halloween event, that would allow us to dress in Costumes from other Final Fantasy games. Like Kain's dragoon outfit, or Warrior of light's.

Mini games would be fun!
I would much appreciate life events, there should be festivals where people dress up, gather, socialize and maybe take part in some events held by GMs even if its something as simple as making a raze around Uldah
Developer could sometimes hold a short speech or something….
Concerts would be fun!
I would love to have a Opera house that would play all sorts of tracks from all the FF titles.

Epic ideas particularly your last one. I remember when I played on private RO servers developers would have events like that. I really enjoyed then, they'd spawn monsters to fight and it was chaos.

I'd like the dress up. But it'd have to be later on, because having Kain in this game would make me depressed that there aren't moves in the game as cool as the ones he does.

Holiday style games would be nice, and a halloween event in addition to what we already have would basically cover every holiday i would want/expect them to.(Maybe Mardi Gras or dia de los muertos would be nice)

Last idea is just fantastic, also if a Developer party of some sort were to happen. Say if it was the anniversary of release of FFXIV or something.

Yeah make it a one-piece body gear part like torso.

Love the concert idea. Like once a year the Music director, I forgot how to spell his name so I won't shame him with my pitiful attempt, could make an orchestrated theme for this game's music for 1 time a year.

One of my favorite events from another game was part of the Winter Event in Guild Wars. They had a special PvP field set up for snowball fights which you got some kind of token from for participating. You could then trade these for event gear which interesting.

Snowball fights in GW2 should be epic.

But on the subject of FFXIV.. There should be more fireworks! Either for New Years or for a "Summer Festival", similar to FFXI.
