They seriously aren't using any resources on this. They already said that there won't be any support offered for the current version. The game's done, if you throw away anything, get stuck, have game bugs/glitches, they won't help you with that. Only if your information is somehow corrupted or whatever will they and they'll only respond via a support ticket. Why do people seem to think that leaving the servers up are doing harm? The only harm there is would be the electric bill for keeping these servers going which is why they have the 30% or higher rule for logins. If there's less than 30% playing the game they'll yank the plug again until 2.0 arrives.

Think of this as a gesture of offering enjoyment to their customer-base. One month won't hurt if people aren't actually using it and if they aren't then it gets taken down, simple as that. But it's not affecting the progress of a Realm Reborn, and it won't affect their staff either.

Terrible decision to bring the game back up. Focus every single resource they have on 2.0 until release.

My recommendation? Get 2.0 out sooner than April 2013 and let go of 1.0.

They're not focusing any resources on 1.0, though. Yoshi-P has said that. There will be no maintenance, no updates, etc. Just the game running, on the old servers/tech, as it was with no saves happening for as long as there's enough people to make it worthwhile (by Yoshi-P's standards, not "some random person on the forums").

Why are you against others logging in and just having fun for fun's sake? You don't want to, great. You don't have to.

You post is a wonderful example of how people in the MMO community just love telling others "what they should do". "I don't see the point in logging in. So, you shouldn't either. Go do something else instead". Who'd have thought MMOs would become such a haven for surrogate e-parents?

Unless some kind of temporary server merge happens for anyone that logs in there wont be enough people in any 1 server to do any group event.

Even if you didn't care about progress and just wanted to kill stuff for fun you couldn't even do that lol. (pretty sure alot of people have fought Ifrit and Moogle to kill time/chill out and not to get weapons, same difference.)

Basically the only thing that opening the servers will equate to is to create a glorified chat program which is pretty much the reason Yoshi wanted it left open iirc. Something along the lines of avoiding cutting people off from each other or something; too lazy to go quote the letter/survey?

Doubt a temporary server Merge would happen though unless there was a server which was capable of holding everyone's player data or if upon logging in your character can transfer to the temporary within 5 mins or something like that?
