The people who are jerks either wont get into good free companies or companies started by jerks won't get members.
@Shougan O_O I HOPE YOU'RE RIGHT ABOUT THAT!... that would be amazing =D

1. FC Leaders will have absolute authority I'm guessing. Just like with any other guild, they have the ability to remove you from the FC for whatever reason. I don't think they'll have access to your personal room though unless you give them access to. (if it's even an option)After reading the Q&A post on Lodestone I have questions and concerns as regards FC housing. If I read it correctly SE is setting up a dormitory (Barracks) housing arraignment at release. Some of the main features I see from this and other pronouncements are:
1. Access controlled by FC leaders
2. The need for all members to pay a portion of the cost for the purchase of the housing.
3. Communal storage facilities
My questions are:
1. How much control will FC leaders have. This is my personal space I do not want interference.
2. Can leaders kick me out on a whim. I do not want to spend a large amount of Gil to procure housing then all of a sudden lose it for whatever reason. How is my investment protected?
3. Who will have access to the communal storage? Will it be like a Guild bank where once deposited it becomes community property or will our items be flagged for our use only?
These are some of the concerns that I have. Unless safeguards are implemented FC housing can become an area ripe for abuse. For all I know the Dev team has already addressed this but has yet to announce it so I will wait til I actually see it implemented in game but without these safeguards I will have absolutely nothing to do with FC Housing.
On a general note I am retired military with 24 years on active duty. A large part of that time was spent in a dormitory (barracks) setting. It is my personal observation that forced communal living under the control of others can strains the strongest of relationships. I sincerely hope that the Dev team will be working hard after release to implement individual housing.
These are my personal concerns. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Also feel free to disagree with me but please respect my right to air my opinions and concerns.
2. See #1, but there's nothing preventing you being kicked after you invest in the FC. Depending on how much money is required and what can be supplied, you may never have to spend a dime on expanding the FC though.
3. I think this is where the access levels of the "bank" come into play. The FC leaders ultimately decide who have access to what.
I think this is really the important part. Remember, you can join a FC as a guest. I think I'd rather experience that environment for a while before investing anything into it. This goes the other way around too; the members of the FC are going to want to evaluate you and see if you're a fit for them or not.
To avoid the issues with being kicked out of an FC and being homeless with all your things on the street, I'm thinking you're going to be really limited in what you can do with your personal room. Maybe have access to your retainer and mail and that's all.I think it will be more of a common room nothing as lavish as personal living space for the housing when it comes to the FC housing. What am thinking is something along the line of what LOTRO did with housing. You had your guild house, and your personal house... Anything you put in to personal was your to keep, anything you donated to the guild house belonged to the gild house... LOTRO is the only game i know that did this so it will be interesting to see what path SE takes....

I will join a free company, but also hope to one day own my own house. Hopefully we will be able to expand our small house slowly over time as we can afford it, not have to buy a bigger one as needed. Also as long you you join a free company made up of your linkshell you should already know your leader and not have worries about them being a jerk or not, you will already know them and everything will be fine.

If what you are saying comes to pass I will have absolutely nothing to do with FC housing. I can accept these conditions in a normal Linkshell setting but not when it comes to my housing. The temptation for abuse of the system is too great for me to risk it.1. FC Leaders will have absolute authority I'm guessing.
