    Ogre here,

In a Realm Reborn, when using Teleport for both regular teleports and aethernet (intra-city teleportation network) your map will open and the destinations available to teleport to will be displayed. You can then select your destination from the map and travel there via teleport!

In all honesty, I think the teleport system we had in 1.0 was perfect, aside from not actually having to run to the Aetheryte/Gate for the first time. Lower the amount of anima given out during Hamlet and it'll make teleporting feel limited again. I never understood why having the option to move around quickly is such a bad thing. If you don't want to use it, don't use it. I chocobo everywhere unless I have to be somewhere quickly. Not a single part of my game was affected by someone using their anima to teleport themselves around.
sure it did, it contributed to the number of people to play with in game after all of the latest content was finished.

Would it maybe be possible to add the option to click on the Aetheryt you want to teleport to in the map menu. I thought it would be a pretty cool and useful little feature. Especially since sometimes, when playing 1.0 I was often thinking - I need to teleport to the Camp east of Ul'dah, but very often confusing Horizon and Drybone so I had to close the teleport menu and open the map to make sure.

So, what do you guys think?
::Edit:: Bah! didn't see Ogre's post before submitting it. My method for navigating the map still stands though.

    Love the idea!

I would take it a step further make it so you can browse the maps by not just using the menu system, but also by clicking on the junction nodes for each zone to progress to the next map.

It was difficult in 1.0 to not only read the maps Eorzean font, but to remember what area you were in. The minimap did not say where you was and you constantly had to refer to the map to get your bearings and it took up the entire screen!

The Producer Live video at least showed us that it no longer takes up the entire screen and could be resized and be present while you play!

If we could follow the map and click on the sections where one map traverses to the next and the next map is displayed without browsing through the menu system. It would be much easier to learn the layout!

The ability to zoom out and show the entire world would be handy too! Make it like Google maps!

Looks like there will be a veil to obscure unexplored areas to. So if I haven't been there I can't see it! As long as they don't make it like XI where I have to find the NPC that sells the map to that area before I can explore it I will be fine! Man, was that a pain in the butt!

I would be all for aetheryte limitations as long as crafting leves were in town and you didnt have to choco 20 mins to get to a camp to turn in a leve a single leve for 2k exp and 3 ingots just because you need to conserve your anima for actual content.

Kindda takes away the conveniance and worth of even having crafting leves.

Yeah those crafting leves blow... If you could stock up on more to all be handed in the same place I wouldn't mind as much but to run or tele to hand 1 in to 3 different camps....

I still wish you could grab 8 leves of each type all for the same camp... (battle, crafting and gathering) Make it worth actually traveling there.

if people still want the map node based like V1, why did SE even bother redoing the map & why were people even crying about the way things are copy & pasted. SE should of just went PSO's route for instant action only the hub can slow you down.

Had you posted this thread a month ago when I just started GW2, I'd be all for it. Now that I've had time in the game, I'm very much against this. I'd be ok with being able to teleport places, but only if there's a limit. There's nothing wrong with running to a place, and in fact I believe this is the number one way memories are made.

For the record, I felt the same with 1.xx's aetherytes. Teleporting was just... too convenient. It took away from the game. Your proposal would do the same but multiplied by 1000.
    If you don't like it. DON'T USE IT. ._.;

If anything, there should be a fee that's charged depending on your character's collective levels, distance from current location like in GW2. Being able to teleport on the fly in a massively massive MMO(I love redundancies) is extremely useful.

Now, I don't want to be the one to call people who are gun-ho about insta-TP lazy or the people who are adamantly against it masochists that kick puppies and eat nails for breakfast without any milk but... Having options are very nice to have.

I'm sure a lot of people out there think of the dreaded moments of being in a PT all set up to farm some tapers or what have you and no one in the PT has anima! Having to take 15 minutes or more to ride all the way from point A to B when it could have taken 15 seconds(Not to mention having to ride all the way to the primal's location across the map).

Time is wasted, and those lovely green trees you've seen a thousand times before aren't as pretty when your team is on a limited time schedule.

That's just my experience and those I played with, personally. All I'm saying is teleportation with minimal to reasonable penalty is a godsend when needed. To deny the ease and functionality of linkshell and PT grouping with teleports is almost as pigheaded(perhaps poor choice of words?) as refusing all player's access to cross-server dungeon grouping.

It works in GW2, no one on my server complains about it, and no one's feeling left out and unwanted unlike in 1.0 XIV's archaic system.

Sorry, didn't mean for this to turn into a rant. Just tired of people doing their damndest to make ARR as unfun as possible.

The object of ARR is to bring new people into the game as well as those who quit long ago due to the game's technical and mechanical failures.
