what exactly is the difference in time traveling 5 years.... or being in cryogenic stasis for 5 years.... we still end up in the future... are people blind to how redundant that sounds?

over-thinking all this waaaaay too much... go read a book or play another game for awhile and stop trying to over analyze the way things are worded into "I'm right your wrong" bullshit

A lot of this is conjecture. Aside from the point that the spell Louisiox casts is from the Twelves' aspect of time (hourglass logo appeared).
Regardless, there are two primary forms of future time travel that have been used before in TV, movies, games etc.
1: You travel to the future, but history assumes you will eventually return to the present, and therefore your future self still exists in that future. (ex: marty mcfly being in the closet outside his elder self, Back to the Future II)
2: You travel to the future, and due to your removal from the timeline, history exists as if you blinked out of existence on the date from which you originated, and you can only begin influencing the world again from the day in which you return.
ARR is clearely based on the second, and quite frankly the likely more viable scenario.

Yup, it's basically exactly what the shonen manga/anime, Fairy Tail, did. A literal timeskip. Kinda funny, cause it was related to a dragon and it was done by a powerful mage, too. This happened in October 2011.2: You travel to the future, and due to your removal from the timeline, history exists as if you blinked out of existence on the date from which you originated, and you can only begin influencing the world again from the day in which you return.

Whoops, spoilers.
just stop.
