I would imagine when we awake, Bahamut is still running loose.

I'm going to think of Bahamut's behavior like a penned up dog. he had all this pent up energy that he needed to burn off. He had fun, destroyed everything in the process, but now has settled down.

It's a lot of work to destroy the entire planet constantly. I'm sure he found a corner of the world to call his own and settled down. And like Elets said.

He's just chillin for the next person to challenge him or step on his territory. He may possibly be a public event where he comes out occasionally to raid and pillage areas farther from his domain for fun. This is where "the adventurers" probably need to protect our city states once we are back in ARR.
