hahaha! i don't care for dances i just want some adjustments to the over exaggerated emotes that make my supposed beastly Paladin look like a little girl waving to the ice cream truck.

So....quick question, what movie is this from? I obviously need to watch this as soon as possible, because honestly the greatest mystery in my life has now approached me....what in God's name is the buildup to that scene? What compels a man to wear such an outfit, put on an awesome headpiece, and then dance like that in front of a crowd? I must know!

That's from LMFAO's video for "Party Rock Anthem." It's in the scene where everyone is showing off their sweet dance moves, leading up to Shufflebot rocking all their faces!

Honestly having new dances that are lively would be great and if nothing else it would be nice to have the /dance1, /dance2, etc. again. Just having one dance is okay but it makes the game a bit more fun when you have more to work with in the actual actions not just text area of what your character can do/is doing. Maybe it's just silly but I had fun going around in XI with my dance routines as a Mithra. The fact that I could type in a new dance mid air and make it look like a completely different dance springing into new steps is one of the things I loved to do in the down time I had waiting for friends. Not to mention I got a few good cheers and some gil for it too which made it more fun that I had an audience who also seemed to find it entertaining. I realize that XIV is a completely different game and that ARR will be even more different than the previously mentioned so with all of the progress they have made in other areas I'm can only hope the dances (and dance selections) will be just as different.

Regardless of if they are going to make new dances or not this is just my opinion and I hope sincerely that this thread is reviewed and at least a few of the ideas are considered if nothing else just to have there be different dances for all of the races.

Considering it's a big, bulky race that doesn't exactly give the impression of being "light on their feet", I think it works well enough. Looking at a number of their emotes, they seem to carry that same sense of "weight". They're not exactly lithe or limber like a Miqo'te or even an Elezen. Could SE put a little more "oomph" into it? Sure. But they could do that with what's there now.. they don't need to start bringing in real world meme dances like some are suggesting.

Roegadyn are limber enough to do a flip while using Gorging Blade, jump into the a good 6 feet for Aura Pulse, jump into the air and shoot arrows downward with Wide Volley, twirl around several times with an axe with Steel Cyclone, perform a backflip to reduce enmity with Elusive Jump, punch an enemy several times including a flip attack with Simian Thrash, etc., yet they're not capable of perform any kind of dance aside from clomping their GIGANTIC MEATY LIMBS ON THE GROUND HULK SMASH?

Our /happy emote has us bouncing all over the place (it's one of the very few emotes I actually enjoy), why can't more do this?

lol I'm not disagreeing with you entirely. Calm down.

First of all, the attacks you're describing are the same for all races (with some variation). Those are weapon skills or special combat maneuvers tied to Classes/Jobs, not race. Several of them only occur when a high amount of "energy" (TP) is built up. Otherwise they have a cool-down. They're not emotes done when casually standing around and relaxed. I'd hardly put emotes and WS's/Combat Moves in the same category.

I get it. The Roegadynn emotes are too stiff and lifeless for you. That's why I said put a bit more "oomph" into them, but keep them looking appropriate for the race (maintain that sense of weight and size).

Seeing a huge brick wall of a character bouncing around with the same lithe grace of a Miqo'te who's a fraction of their size and weight would look ridiculous.

More poignantly and on-topic, please no real world meme-style dances. Keep it unique to the world/cultures of FFXIV.

Did I say that? No. I said that the current dances are unacceptable. Big and bulky as they are, as KiriA has mentioned, they're capable of doing some pretty incredible acrobatics in other parts of the game. They could have a dance that suits them but it should be better than that. I would hardly even qualify that as a dance. It's just an awkward shuffling of the feet.

Again, those are combat maneuvers tied to jobs/classes and shared across all races, requiring a build-up of "energy" (TP) to perform. Or, they have cool-downs, which (in a lore perspective, not gameplay mechanics/balance) would indicate they require more energy at once than any character, regardless of race, is capable of mustering in quick succession.

Emotes are race-specific and are more in line with the culture/personality/physicality of the race itself. Roegadynn are a huge, hulking mass. They're a walking brick-house. They are not going to have the flexibility or "light toes" of a smaller, lighter race. Watching their emotes, they seem to be just about what I would expect from a race of their composition, though I will agree some can use some livening up.

Can SE push the Roeg emotes a bit more? Absolutely, I'm sure they could. I would expect that, whatever SE does, it would still be less "animated" than what you'd see from a Miqo'te or Lalafell, or even a highlander.
