Yeah, you're right. I forgot that Eorzea is where fun goes to die. Not a single person is allowed to enjoy their stay here. Let's take out /laugh and /happy while we're at it, because only frowns and sadness can exist!
What he meant, of course, is that it just doesn't fit the style. XIV is set in a medieval/renaissance world, and I'd really love to see some artistic integrity.
Which means, we don't ask for historically accurate dances, just not something that feels like ripped off from modern day street dancing.
So, all that Garlean technology means nothing to the theme of the game? If Square-Enix could come up with their own emotes that have even the slightest hint of emotion, I'd be fine...I don't think the game needs to parrot pop-culture dances, but we've seen how they create emotes. What he meant, of course, is that it just doesn't fit the style. Just a reminder...somebody was paid, by Square-Enix, to mo-cap THIS! Maybe I'm a bit biased, as almost all of the Roegadyn emotes are absolute garbage, but I would personally like to see even a hint of excitement in my character from time to time. I mean, this is a role-playing game. Maybe the character I play as has some personality to him.
I'd love for more dancing, so long as races get unique dances, and they loop. I remember waiting for ships in Aion and just starting a dance-off with other players in line, or exploring randomly in Champions Online only to stumble into an alley filled with 6-7 players /dancing.
Right, because we all know the only reason people log into FFXIV is to /dance the whole time, because there's nothing else at all, in the entire game, that's fun to do. (note: that was sarcasm, in case you missed it).
On a serious note, you really do love hyperbole, don't you.
Maybe you can use your own imagination and creativity to inject some of your own unique personality into him and make him your own, instead of relying on SE to do it for you via /emotes.Just a reminder...somebody was paid, by Square-Enix, to mo-cap THIS! You know, be pro-active about it.
You don't need emotes to role-play, nor to give your character personality.
Or is FFXIV - for you - where player imagination and creativity go to die as well?

Because I've seen both posted...
Exactly, dancing makes everything more fun lol. Anything that involves waiting around instantly becomes less mundane.I'd love for more dancing, so long as races get unique dances, and they loop.
