Now that the excitement from the End of an Era trailer has subsided we now need to prepare ourselves to a long hiatus before the launch of ARR which could be between 4-6 months from now. That is an eternity in the life of an MMO. Unless something is done about it a lot of people will lose interest by the first of the year and move on to something else. With this in mind I recommend the following to SE:
1. Institute a weekly posting on the forums where a member of the Dev team provides us with information on various aspect of ARR. This can start with the basic mechanics of the game as they should be the further est along in development and should only need tweeks and adjustment that become apparent as the result of testing. Examples of this would be the Server System, UI, Battle system ect. After this we can then move on to content. A good reference point would be from all the questions posted prior to the last live from the producer broadcast.
I recommend that the Dev team members do this for several reasons. First and most importantly Yoshi-P cannot as his time is tied up in overseeing all aspects of Development whereas the the particular branches of the Dev team are consentrating on their areas of expertise and are the most qualified to provide the information. Yoshi-P would, of course review the postings and sign off on them. Secondly it will give the player base a chance to know the individual team members and thank recognize them for all their efforts.
2. Yoshi-P should provide us with regular updates as to the progress of the overall development, especially as it relates to the upcoming road map. I leave it to him to determine the proper spacing for these reports
3. The updated road map is scheduled for release late November to early December. A good time to start this would be shortly after its release.
I know that this is asking a lot and I do not make this recommendation lightly but after reading a lot of the posts on the forums begging for information I believe that something of this nature will ease the minds of all of us who want this game to flourish and help to maintain interest in the game
