Although it be nice to have NPC walk around like in Skyrim, but over time I will eventually forget and care less about the liveliness of it. To me it's the important of having players around in town than NPC being lively.

Now I actually think the idea of making guilds more lively because it's more realistic as if you go into a store you see people walking around.

The actual players will make up for the dead town if the npc isn't animatedly walking around or running.

If Yoshi and Dev Team can make the town more lively that be awesome, but if not, It wont affect me at all as I am more interested in other things such as the core game play mechanics, quest, end game, storyline, etc.

That is true small thing do make a difference and they can keep adding small things over a time. Personally like to see it were a person randomly and I do me rarely this happens someone bumps into a person knocking into a fountain or whatever getting all wet then run off in screaming for there revenge :P

I've never seen a game make a town look sufficiently lively. I'd like to see how XIV hopes to achieve this.

Even in GW2, which has NPC's roaming, once you realise they say the same voice lines and follow the same path in a loop the immersion is broken.

We need more players or NPC's with spontaneous patterns.

Hey guy I'm pretty sure if you have a solution for this planned out you could win some pretty prestigious AI awards.

    Just sayin'.

Agreed npc patterns should be unique and have variables I remember this kid in ffxi that keeps running back and forth in south San D'Oria on an errand keep telling myself man dont you sleep lol and. Know I could see a weekly supply run done that goes restock a vendors on the street and they have there conversations but not everyday spice it up I say.

Having people go home at night, and having new NPCs come out would be absolutely fantastic. Kinda like Majora's Mask.

I think having certain things only accessible at night (or day) is a cool idea. It makes you actually enjoy the passage of time too.

I wish the NPCs were as lively as the intro cinematic to each city. When I started I remember people unloading payloads off of the boats and people moving supplies around Limnsa. Same goes for Ul'dah. People shopping, trade caravan moving about the city, etc.

Add it to the beta version YoshiP and Team.

Think some of it is that it might add considerable amount of memory/lag. Know if they can find a way to prevent it or make it were it npc's etc are not so intrusive on the server that would be great.

No matter how unique NPCs patterns are, they will eventually get "old" to look at overtime. and giving npcs patterns to follow ( and not just one were talking like 50+ npcs per city). That's a pretty hefty coding job with that alone.

As long as they "pretend" to have a conversation with another NPC ( for years and years XD haha) Or Tom NPC walks to Store gets food, then walks back to stump to eat his food, only to walk back to the same store to buy the same food, and eat it at the same place again ( for years and years to come XD). Then I wouldn't mind NPC be "Lively".
