Impulse you sig is AWESOME!
I still play because I believe SE will unlock the massive potential I see within this game. I can see years later in a LS with vets taking about how XIV used to be. Similar thing happened before I left XI.
However, If Yoshi-P as the leader fails to command his team to achieve greatness then I will move on and consider it a failed investment. MIGHT EVEN TROLL THE FORUMS ABOUT HOW MUCH IT SUCKS!!! lmao jk

everything in this game is great fun for me and has enourmous potential. i started ffxi in 12/2008 knowing there will be a ffxiv but still did my best in ffxi. it took me almost a year to get 2 jobs to 75 and several more months to reach sky and the flood of expansions made me feel really small. in addition i never liked crafting in ffxi, here i love it! this game is fun, no matter if you play it for 12 hours a day or just a leve or behest. switching jobs anytime/anyplace is absolutely cool. people are nice, helpful and mostly grown-up, since you need some patience in this game, and today's kids get bored quickly. when i went back to ffxi for some minutes to say goodbye to my ond LS and to giveaway all my items and delete my char/account i realized how much better the ffxiv graphics are ... do you remember the minimap in ffxi?
this is the fantasy i want to spend my free time in, if you've played some more other SE titles you'll find out they are great fun no matter what genre, check those titles by yourself and you'll have hopefully memories too.

the ones i loved most are Final Fantasy VII (for the graphics, story and the music), Final Fantasy X (blitzball, yes it can go past level 99 :-), Final Fantasy X-2 (could take items from previous game to next new game), Final Fantasy XII (the macro battle system and the language behind it was just great!), Kingdom Hearts 1+2 (so cute!), Star Ocean: Till the End of Time Directors Cut (one of my all time winners, loved the Battle Arena very much and the Battle Trophy system is a must for perfectionists ... 164 was a real hard one ... http://starocean.wikia.com/wiki/Batt...tar_Ocean_3%29 ), Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, Grandia III ...
have fun :-)
I play just to get all my DoW and DoM ranks up while there is nothing else to do so that when content does come I can jump straight on it. Have given up with crafting as it takes way to long and there are so many crafters already so it's not hard to get the items you need.

Because the game is fun for me. That's really all there's to it.

I play because the game has lots of potential and because I believe Yoshi can make this game work.
Even if most (if not all) my friends are gone at the moment I am not ready to give up on this game. I am not playing that much, but logging in at least once per two days to do my leves and stuff.

4 Reasons I am playing the game in its incomplete form.
1) I enjoy playing in groups, I find solo quest leveling horribly boring.
2) My Linkshell, honestly my game play is linked to the linkshell. Without my linkshell I would not be playing.
3) There is no alternative mmo, everything else that is a new/recent released mmo is shallow and solo oriented see#1. Only close 1 is FFXI and Abysea slaughter that game.
4) I enjoy playing it, I find it quite fun to play in groups. I look forwards to the daily events I have with my linkshell.

Because I'm stubborn. Thats pretty much the only reason why.

I enjoy levelling up, doing behests, watching my character's animations, even hearing the footsteps on sand and grass are great to me. The landscape is pretty, even with copy/paste. The music is awesome, Thanalan is already very home to me like Ronfaure was and Saruta. The graphics are spectacular, loving the shape of equipment. Even if it's the same model between cotton and canvas, you can see the difference in the shapes, you can almost put your finger and feel the stiches. I love my character, her hair, her eyes, and being with her hours in this world staring at the same things, you apreciate when it's well done. I do hate though the surplus and targetting, and it gets to my nerves when at behest I can't target my mob unless I use a macro, and after it I'm on yellow again, but I keep going on and logging back. The world is big, and I like it here. I started at release with a lala, and now I have a mikote, I enjoy getting her to the point where the lala is even though I have to repeat stuff. Compared to the release and today, there's been a few changes, there will be more, there should be more now, and I will be there to see them. This world seems virtually home to me, and although there's stuff missing, bugged, wrong designed, it's alive.

Actually, I have a few reasons, first is the same as everyone else, I'm leveling up jobs. Second, I do keep in touch with my ls from ffxi, since there are some people who are still interested in the game, but not ready to commit, I generally keep them up to date on the game's development when I log in. (I'm the scouting party of one). But mostly, I enjoy the game, even with it's flaws, and I've played enough MMOs to know by now that what you start with is not what will ultimately be.
