I'm frustrated by player misconduct...

I feel like a lot of people ITT are just not considering the feelings of the OP. Imagine if you were in such a situation, imagine a drop you really wanted badly had gone to someone else. Some of you may just shrug and go on, but a good many of you would take the steps the OP took.

Also, if the players left you'd be upset to an extent. Let's not flame someone for something you yourself might do. I honestly might feel frustrated. Although, I wouldn't exactly call the concept in question "player misconduct".

I'm attempting to appeal to player's higher senses.

we are considering how he is feeling, and we are giving him solutions for the next time so that he can set his ground rules ahead of time so it doesnt happen again

whats passed is done with, he made a mistake(yes, he made it) by having people in his group he couldnt trust, and who he didnt set any rules for
in the future he will know to set these ground rules ahead of time in hopes people follow them(people who join and agree to rules and still do it, will then be on them, even though you cant do anything about it still)


But if this is a poor me post, well no sympathy here, sorry but people have to be realistic to a point.

Anyone who has ever played an MMO knows that sometimes the guy who just joined the party gets the best drop. Sometimes you get it, it's chance and no ones fault. Whether or not you want to barter for it is up to you , but imo its a bit tasteless to go on a 30 min rant about how you deserve that drop. Make an offer, but please don't make a scene.

Common problem in MMOs. Common problem in real life. It's unfortunate but you can't have people hold your hand through this stuff even if you think it's unfair. If he got the shield, he can do what he wants with it and he is not obligated to give it to you.

Furthermore, that shield is ridiculously easy to get. They're always being sold and they pop up in faction leves pretty much every single time I check them. Don't get too bummed out by it, you'll get one soon enough.

Don't feel bad. There used to be rampant theft and backstabing in APB.

You'd call out asking for someone to craft you a specific piece of gear or if they have access to it. They say yes. Theres no in game direct trading only a mail system. So you authorize a mail send, They get your cash you don't get the item or vise versa and the gm's do nothing about it. They have no system in place to allow for locked in trading and have no system in place to allow players to get back whats basically stolen because of their lack of systems in place.


Atleast in your situation, the game rolled a dice roll, the dice roll dictated that user should get the item. You didn't technically lose anything.

I did a level 40 faction leve recently with a random guy I didn't know but I had partied with earlier and he seemed kind of nice. Well....we do the leve and takes like 20 minutes and was quite painstaking and then a chest appears after last guy and a scarred kite shield drops which can turn into a vintage kite shield. Frustrating thing is....he got the shield: a conjurer who couldn't use it. I'm the 31 gladiator sitting there thoroughly dissapointed and he hasn't even spent a point doing gladiator. After 30 minutes of pleading to get the shield and how I would really appreciate it he proceeds to finally "yield" and ask for a lantern shield in exchange and i said ok. So i port him to limsa lominsa and i get the shield and try to trade...he does nothing...then he logs off. How does one deal with this sort of frustration? I just about tore my eyes out on this one

There are two big determing factors in the winnings here. First off, who spent the faction points on the Leve. If it is someone you do not know, and they spent the points on the leve, you have no leverage to take their points and award, unless they are just really nice.

Second, Did you actually check to see if the shield was useable by DoM? It doesn't matter if there's no points in gladiator. 'Sentinel' is what counts for shield usage. 'Not' Gladiator.

Mage types can only use Wood based, leather based and Lantern shields from what I remember.

My Conjurer used a notched buckler. Clearly metal. It varies per the shield.

I fail to see how this guy who got the shiekd was rude. From reading the OP was rude. 30 min talk over a digital item that don't effect you IRL? Sorry but holy crap. Sorry but after a 30 min talk over an game item, Id say yes and run. Sorry but the guy got it. Maybe this game shouldn't go by the current system if you have no control over drops.

Anyway, can we please stop calling the guy rude terms (the one who got the shield) This don't mean p.u.gs are bad or grouping with randoms are bad. I met LS mates who acted like that. Or worst.

Those are also in the same shield category (Bucklers) as Bladed/Lantern Shields.
Kite shields, Hoplons, Round shields, Peltas and Scutums are DoW only.

And this is why you need a system like XI's and not this piece of garbage we have now. Also for those who say "anyone can lot in XI!", im talking about setting party leader to receive all drops.

At the end of the day the discretion lies with the person who beat the random number generator on who gets what item, you arent entitled to loot that somebody else got just because they can't use it.

I blame the game. If someone spends 400 points on a faction leve any loot from a chest should automatically be assigned to them. I'm surprised runestones aren't randomly given away too considering how bad the loot system is in this game.
