I've not met too many of these people, but as observed below your post, some people do get a little too set in their ways and won't look at other ways of doing things. Abolishing the Armory system will not change this. In fact it may make it worse, because people will have their class or job attached to their character. And people will only play the characters on the most popular class/job, leading to a shortage in the jobs that aren't "popular".

I like the armory system because, you don't have to level a whole new character to enjoy another class or job. Having a secondary class prevents boredom so long as there is still content to play (Those last few months of bored really hurt, but I digress.) And also, it allows you to be more efficient as a player. I know we've only talked about DoW/DoM jobs, but being able to make your own weapons and armor from scratch, from raw materials to finished product, was one of the best things in this game.

Sure my passion is WAR (as a DD not tank), but I'm also a WHM if you need that too. So I can play my favorite job, without being left out of parties all the time because I hate tanking.
