So summing this part up, it's "because it doesn't work with this strategy". Why not try a different one? Why does it have to be a BLM burn? Because it's the fastest? Safest? Always repeating the same strategy is boring.most of the time we were looking for either a whm or a blm. we can't really bring a brd in to replace a whm. and a brd can't replace a blm as a ranged DD. the gap in DPS is just too great.
You don't want to bring a DRG/MNK in place of a BLM to great buffalo. because they will get slaughtered by the AoE. You can't bring a WAR tank to a Garuda burn because the war will not be able to generate enough enmity to keep the BLM alive.

Not really looking to pick a fight, but LNC/DRG is easily the most fun class to fight GB.
I exclusively fought GB on my Lancer because it was the most fun, you just have to learn the range. MNK can do it to but its like a stick and run kind of tactic.
Who wouldn't take you in ls, with 4 jobs at 50 especially with blm whm pld war 50?This guy sounds like a LS leader I know of.
I have blm and whm to 50 and with what I consider the best gear the game can offer at this present time. Triple and double melted gear. - Half way into relic quest - I currently have war and pld at 50 also and other jobs around 30ish, but hey, this was not enough when I applied to his LS. He told me "Sorry, but you don't have MNK all the way to 50, so we can't take you.” So, attitude like this only discourage people from enjoying the game.
Unless the ls is already full.
If you ever need ls let me know in game at 2.0 ARR.

I really don't like strats like this. I want to play the class that I want to play because I like that class - why should I be forced to play multiple classes?Cutter's Cry having you go Black Mage > Dragoon > Black Mage > Monk is an example of one of these strats. This post just seems like someone who's upset that they aren't a special snowflake due to this system.

I am being forced if I get kicked from a party because I don't want to switch to another class. I become forced when the general community opinion is that's what everyone should be doing. I'm being forced if I have to in order to be accepted by the community.

1) That's not the dev's fault
2) stop playing with bad players and play with people willing to experiment.
Everything in the current game is viable with any setup. It's just not efficient. The game goes for any other MMO out there. DRGs in FFXI were shit pre-abyssea, and they still got into parties.

1) The developers designed the system in that switching is that easy. The content is also designed so that switching is optimal. The systems the developers designed cause it to be optimal to switch, which makes people enforce it.1) That's not the dev's fault

2) "Bad players" is just about every PUG group I've played in, if you want to use that term.
And yeah, the last thing you said is right, a lot of things are viable, but the playerbase won't allow it because it's too easy to switch to something that IS optimal - to the point that they won't invite you if you don't obey that rule.
Congratulations, but by monk friend got refused from Cutter's Cry, Aurum Vale, The Raven Nevermore, and Garuda because he was a monk. He didn't have any other classes; he can't do end game content because he chose to play a monk? Parties won't accept him because he doesn't have multiple classes on hand to use - why should he even have to play anything else?I knew plenty of people that only played one job and everyone still accepted them...
