    Job and Class Idea`s

This is from a post I found on another web site in regards to possible class job combinations(Idea`s). While I don`t agree with everything on this document there is many good ideas and a lot of work went into it.

IMHO FFXIV does need greater job diversification to help increase play styles and so that players are more attached to the Job/Class they play. I believe this may help ensure that the players try different set ups to beat fights as they have certain jobs/classes they wish to play.

I also like the idea of having advanced classes that have several requirements/great quest line to open them. I would think that these advanced jobs should start at level 1 and not the current method of the class/job being the same level.

I really like the idea of a long term quest, hopefully epic story line for them and it also brings players back to start leveling from 1 with new players, and gives new players something epic to aim for.

All credit to Rydin for this document.

I think the biggest problem with the idea of classes/jobs/advanced jobs is that they would need all of them to have a unique niche type in order for the players to have any incentive to downgrading.

For example, their original idea was to make jobs more enviable for party and classes better for low-man or solo. From my personal experience, I duoed ARC with a MAR up to 50. Technically, I should have been getting enough benefits from ARC that it could have been enviable to use that instead of BRD once unlocked. However, the only extra thing I could've had on ARC that would have made it more interesting would've been Invigorate (that I can think of). As for the WAR, he still had second wind and the benefits from the better WAR abilities made that a better or equivalent option to MAR (of course, invigorate would've been nice for him as well).

Now, maybe if the limitations of Class abilities were such that ARC had access to Cura (for example), so that I had that as an Oh shit! button in case of trouble, then giving up the songs might have been interesting. I think maybe the best way to make classes more interesting would be to let them access more cross-class abilities than their job counterparts.

The reason I bring this up is that advanced jobs, in my mind, could only really work if they decide to make them even more specialized for raid/alliance settings. Let's say by making the WAR upgrade amazing at dealing with adds, while the PLD improvement becomes even more efficient at keeping hate from the main boss while keeping his friends alive. If the point is just to make improved jobs that will make those obsolete, then I don't really see a point in adding them.

    Just my 0.02$.

TL/DR: I don't think there is a need to add upgraded options that make the previous tier obsolete.

I hope they bring over Geomancer with slightly different play style from the one FFXI is getting in their next expansion.

Wow..that's a lot of work. Kudos to Rydin for thinking all of that through. I haven't taken the time to think through all of the ramifications of adding all those jobs as far as balance and all that goes, but what I WILL say is:

    a) I love the IDEA of having lots of jobs,
    b) I love the idea of having uber jobs that are incredibly hard to unlock,
    c) I love the idea of having multiple jobs per class, it's very reminiscent of the original FF, and lastly
    d) even though ideally it might make sense for bst to use whips.....I really liked the one handed axes in FFXI
