The bard of ff11 would be nice to have again over ff14 bard...





wait a second there. I played both bard on 11 and 12 and 11's made me wanna suck on a rusty nail.
11's was SO boring. 12's could be more focused on musical skills and effects, yes, but 11's route is NOT the way to go.


If that's all you did, you were a bad BRD.
In endgame shit I did the following on BRD:
1) Sing songs
2) Slept adds
3) Support healed
4) Support spells (protect, shell etc)
5) Debuffed the mob
6) Pulled adds
7) DD'd if I had time
BRD was one of the busiest jobs in XI, if played right. If you were one of those BRD's who just sung a song every 2 minutes then the job was boring due to your own ineptitude.
SAM was boring too, if you just auto attacked.
I agree with you Ingolf. Jobs like white mage, red mage and bard (supporting class) is all based on how productive you are and how you play the jobs.If that's all you did, you were a bad BRD.

Yep!
They key thing with BRD though is that every role it fulfilled was supportive. I'd be happy if they gave BRD some decent curing gear too, so we could help out the WHM's more.

Funny how XIV's bard is like that rather than the pansy edwardian bard. I say our bard is very bard. Bard enough, I would say.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
