    Anima and Teleportation

We automatically gain anima every day, and cap out at 100. It costs about 2-4 anima to teleport to any destination that you have already been to. All characters start with the ability to gain anima and teleport.

Personally, I would like it a tad more if we had to earn our anima/hour with some main storyline quest. Also It would be nice if teleport was explained by some sort of quest or story. TP as a mode of transportation seems rather random, although it is really convenient.

I know this is probably one of the LAST things that needs "fixing", if any change at all, but I was hoping to hear other players insight on teleport. Would you rather have an alternate method of world travel?

to me, something more scenic would be nice.. the game's scenery is -stunningly- beautiful.

Exactly. I wouldn't scrap the anima system, but I'd love the quest to earn it. Maybe like training your body for teleportation.

Also, I'll see my dreams fulfilled as soon as chocobos are implemented ;P And I'm eager for those airship rides. To be able to see everything from high above.

I really like the world, it is really beautiful - even with the copy pastes lol

I think it was explained by Square some point early on, something like using the flow of aether to travel between aetherytes, with anima being the energy needed to enter/use it. I haven't seen the explanation for a while, so I could be wrong.

Teleports are nice if you absolutely need to be somewhere right then and there, but otherwise I would prefer to run, use a Chocobo or Airship. Hell, if Square implemented ridable Wind Drakes (FF5) at some point later on that would be nice as well.
As far as the current system goes, I'm not really liking how teleportation is being abused. If you're going to teleport somebody to an aetheryte they've never been to before, it should only be possible if said aetheryte were in the same region. When you have people bringing new players from Ul'dah to Gridania, to Coerthas and then to Mor Dhona all via teleport, it kills the aspect of adventure and exploration.

A definition of what teleport is to SE doesn't make the introduction to it, in FFXIV, any less abrupt. I'm just saying within the game's world there should be some recognition to it.

Ah, definitely. Not everybody reads into the lore and such if bits aren't present in game. I guess they could stick it in to the part of the first quest where you get to the Adventurer's Guild or as SirEdeonX said, add a new quest or series of mini quests to earn it, or at least explain it.
Though the state of the game now with everybody using it, it would seem redundant to add the quests and force everybody to do them. I suppose SE could put it to where any character made after the implementation date had to, if they went with that route.

It's such a tease as it is now. It reminds me of my first day on FFXI watching the Airship fly by the Bastok Markets entrance in South Gustaberg... Except in the case of XIV, nobody can access it yet.

Exactly, SE explained it but it should be on the game through quests and stuff. I'm one of those people who actually read all the lore, websites and the game manuals before starting it XD But most people don't read those things and the crucial info should be in-game.

    I wants airship now :<
As I said in countless threads, chocobos and airships could really change this game, that's why I think SE is saving those features as a backup-plan. I can't wait to be adventuring around and see people pass me in a chocobo and to curse them to hell XD

For those wanting an ingame explination, did ffxi have one for the teleport or home point crystals? Outpost warp? Did WoW explain the teleport gates? I'm pretty sure an npc may tell ya or a lil bit. But I don't think a quests is needed. Alot of ffxi lore wasn't just in questing. Talking to npc also had in some lore.

I personally consider anima/teleportatoin a stopgap measure until chocobos and airships are added. Once they're in, I hope they remove it completely (with the exception of free aetheryte teleports from camp to sub-camps; IE, Camp Emerald Moss to the Mun Tuy Cellars)

not gonna happen. Teleport via anima is similar to outpost warping, jusy you get it at lvl 1 minus 10 with a limitation. To take it away would be a step back from

"taking everything WRONG in ffxi and making it right here"

Just they put limits on stuff so ppl wouldn't abuse it.

    nor readintg the whole thread
But yes it was explained prelaunch.

Teleports do you aether waves to travel. If you played two worlds or more vetter two worlds II its similar to that. What happens though (the reason for anima) is it this form of travel stresses the body out. Anima is a fail safe so you don't well die while riding the aether waves.

There should be limitations to teleporting since we get it well the second we play. People should go explore and walk around to places.
Personally I won't use it unless I have to, like for a party as I like walking/running around. We are also getting other modes of transpertation such as airships, chocobo carrigages and well chocobo themselves.
Just gotta wait till they fix the importent stuff.

I personally can't wait to ride in a carrage. It looks fun from seeing what they look like in the Ul'dah CS.

Honestly this is one of the new mmorog to have a fast travel like that so early on in levels. Most games force you to walk. FFXI did. WoW does till u get FP's.
