Square does, as they've commented that XI was made to be a representative FF title -- not to mention common sense, when you slap Final Fantasy on the title of something you expect certain things.

Common sense dictates that expectations differ from person to person.

When I look at FFXI, I just see an Everquest clone with Final Fantasy franchise smothered over it.
