What they need to do is use their own industry experience to continue developping their game.
The game probably isn't this bad due to bad ideas... most likely it's due to falling way behind schedule.

Pretty much this. I see where Tanaka was going with the game when he was the lead however I think he rushed it and didn't get to fine tune things.

What I want to see in FFXIV.
More definition between 'classes' and the roles they fill.
New classes, particularly a summoner class that is NOT a support class. (SUMMONERS ARE NOT JUST SUPPORT GDI!)
Missions and quests that REQUIRE combat on the players part. A weaver should NOT be able to finish the story solo.
More story content.
More cutscenes outside of the main story line.
More traditional FF-type lore in the game. Chocobos, Moogles, airships, etc.
Less gimping because of fear of imbalance. Some classes will (and should) be stronger in certain areas than others.
Less mage hate. Seriously, everything SE has done to mages in their MMOs suggests an irrational fear or hatred for any and all non-melee classes.
What I don't want to see in FFXIV:
More FFXI.
More WoW.
More grind.
People dont want final fantasy xiv to use certain aspects from wow. Ok remind me the top MMO for the past years yes it is wow. Meaning based on the majority of people in the world wow has some of the best aspects put in one to make the best mmo. Wow has lost players because of the ways others play Final Fantasy xiv A Realm Reborn will be great looking at the way SE is doing things just let them do their thing and wait quit complaining
You must be a troll or very clueless. There is a game I enjoyed for 7 years maybe you should go try it. It's called Final Fantasy XI. Also, we have a troll already and at least he does a good job at it...first off they need to stop trying to be other mmo's, since they'll never beat wow cuz it already has its fan base locked in.
they need to drop anima and add a form of warp spell/warp items <-- Umm No...
they need to add a mog house or something like it <--Maybe
they need to to make you change jobs in your mog house <--Hell No
they need to add a painful death penalty or or there no point in dieing <--Umm YEAH... NO!
they need to make aoe spells seprate from solo attack/buff/debuff spells <--Just add some AoE blasting mobs in dungeons
they need to make re-do all the classes as there own type of class(dd,tank, buff, debuff) <--They already are and Class =/= Jobs...
they need to make a real search like ffxi for finding party members and flag for party.

then go back to FFXI
abyssea isn't that easy or easy mode. People stop doing the leech thing. And if they "leech they are opening boxes since no one would be willing to. Abyssea also does have a story line which involes alot of mini boss and bossing killing to gain acess to another area. Also ffxiv is suppose to be less time consuming then ffxi. And no matter what death is like, people will still get power leveled. And also its not SE fault for what the players chose to do for max exp/hr.
I've been playing ffxi since ps2 launch till recently, and only due to money issues. It needed to be a bit easier as ppl stoped playing cuz they grew up and had less time to play.
Games are meant to be fun, and are as easy or as hard as you makre them. Death don;t add challenge just slows down your progress. Real challenge comes from the content.
Also the teleport system does have lore to it. Anima is a fail safe when riding the aether waves (the way we teleport between crystals) since the body is stressed from it. Anima is so you don't die.
And from what I seen, read they did improve on ffxi. teleporting starts at level 1 not 10 (outpost warps) you don't need your country to "rule" the area and even can get it by teleporting with ppl who do have them.
The levequest system is an "improved" take on fields of valor pages. where instead of doing 1 at a time you do 8. And each from what I read/seen have a lil bit of lore to them. PPl did the same page over and over w/o complaining. They used it as something to do then mindlessly kill mobs.
Aggro icon help anyone of any gaming level to explore and learn the world. We can easily learn how things aggro when we know what does. Just expriment around the stuff and purposely get aggro.
Honestly when has a game death been more then an annoyance/ waste of time? I play/ed TONS of games, death was just annoyin

My responses are in bold.
first off they need to stop trying to be other mmo's, since they'll never beat wow cuz it already has its fan base locked in.
they need to drop anima and add a form of warp spell/warp items (No thank you, I don't want to have to level just to get Warp and the Teleport spells or pay some outrageous price for an item that may not even be available for sale. The current system is great because everyone has the option to teleport and warp if they want to.)
they need to add a mog house or something like it (This I don't have a problem with. Though we should be getting a form of housing with the Companies)
they need to to make you change jobs in your mog house (This is just ridiculous. Why? What possible good reason could you have to force people to change jobs in cities? Oh right, there is none.)
they need to add a painful death penalty or or there no point in dieing (I agree there should be a stricter death penalty, but "painful"? No. Something similar to Aion where you lose SP, but can buy it back would be great)
they need to make aoe spells seprate from solo attack/buff/debuff spells (Again... why? There's no reason for this. The system works fine as it is. I hated that AoE versions of single cast spells were separated in FFXI)
they need to make re-do all the classes as there own type of class(dd,tank, buff, debuff) (Sorry, but again, no. The best part about this game, and the part that is actually good is the Armory system. Everyone should know by now that Customization is king. Though I will agree that they need to make classes more unique... but they don't have to redo them and pigeon-hole them to do it)
they need to make a real search like ffxi for finding party members and flag for party. (Agreed. The system they have now is good and would work if people would friggin use it. But instead of learning how to use it, they just whine. So I do agree that a /sea function is necessary, but not only for party making)
