Thread: Updating to 2.0 ?

Good day.

I was wondering if they already disclose how will 2.0 be installed ? Will it be through the actual update manager or will we have another software ? What about game size on disk (10 ? 20gb ?) ? Any way to make a "clean install" without buying again the CD that will be released when the game is out ?

It will be an entirely different client. The 1.0 client is now obsolete.

It will be a new disk/download but I'm not sure if current players have to pay for the new client or not.

Its a new client. Its not really an update then it is a new install. Last I heard Yoshida was aiming for 10gb on ps3, I dont know if that means that is the same for PC users or not.

The update (most likey) will be done through a special client given by SE that will torrent download the rest of the file and then install. Like you can do with Steam (not sure if steam uses direct download or torrents, but most users wont know or wont care for the difference), and Blizzard games.

@shougun should be larger files for PC since they dont need to downscale textures and such.

It cannot, as the PC client will have higher resolution textures, and those normally form the bulk of a MMORPG client.

That is what I am hoping XD -but Yoshida did say up close objects on the ps3 should look quite similar to same as PC.

Since I wasnt sure I just gave a "bare minimum" number lol

If you look at the pictures of the two platforms, the resolution of the textures is evidently different.

The PC version looked far better than the PS2 version, trust me I have played it on every format. It looked like crap on PS2.
