Haha thanks Arcell! You are most kind!
I would like to say no to the NPC marrying idea, or atleast leave it optional... It was kinda ok in SWTOR but after a while there were only so many creative ways I could imagine bashing Corso's face with the air-lock door.
If I'm gonna marry anyone ingame, I'm going to marry my husband - atleast then the threats of "Cure me or make your own dang PB&J!" will have a positive effect on my gaming experience.![]()
Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means

I enjoy skyrim adopted children.
Enjoy hearing their sob stories and telling them gtfo that is.

Ambivalent on the topic. It was rather pointless roleplaying back in XI, and I don't see that changing much for ARR.
So I suppose in that case, I find same sex marriage with other players to be a non issue. After all, looking at the demographic, there's an absurdly high probability it's two dudes in real life getting their female avatars to hook up, which is some kind of double gay, gay squared, if you will. If the media picks up on that, as they say, any publicity is good publicity.
But it really should be an afterthought at best. Making sure the game isn't a mismatched pile of garbage like it was at release is a bit more important, along with job balances, releasing content to keep people with multiple 50s from complaining about a self-inflicted drought, PvP, Companions, and the myriad of other things most would agree are more important.

Before I finished playing Skyrim (have completed main story) and moved on to FF14, I never got married. So many npc beauties, it's hard to choose one...![]()

Right so I've been giving it some thought, and I now too don't think it would be a good idea to have only npcs as marriageable. I think in an MMORPG where social interaction with other players is such an integral part of the game, keeping players from marrying each other but letting them marry npc's only would be silly. I guess I'm just afraid they'll implement marriage the same way they did in XI. That was a terrible feature imo. Months of planning? seriously? For a game wedding??
HOWEVER! I think it would be a nice feature to add the option to marry an npc fellow, if/when they ever add them, for the players who feel less inclined to marry a real person.
And it's not any more creepy than having a spouse in a game like Skyrim or Fable. It's not like I'm suggesting we all actually marry a fictional character like that crazy guy and his DS girlfriend lol. Despite what you may think, it's still a roleplaying game and there may come a time when I want my character to have a wife. I don't see why it can't be an npc. However if they're going to add marriage they should add the option to divorce. It'd be pretty hilarious if a player divorced their npc spouse to marry another player. Imagine the interaction with the npc after that lol.
Now obviously I'm not implying that this should be a priority over dungeons and other MMO goodies. But if they're going to add npc fellows eventually anyway, why not add the option? It would be another way to make the player feel more connected to the world. Something that can often be severely lacking in MMO's.
Also I really love the idea from Nix to make it a pact between two people. I wouldn't mind that at all.

how about we just forget marriage on any level and concentrate on content.

Well the devs already said they're going to add it. And considering it is mainly a social type function on a social type game, it technically is content. Why shouldn't we discuss it?

Because X disagrees with you, Y doesnt care about the subject and Z thinks that anyone who has an idea over the current designed game is an idiot.
:P
XY and Z all forget this is a feedback forum, carry on.
@Adoption - I want to adopt moogles. I really want like 12 moogles per yalm >.>
