Why do you keep playing?

Heh something I'm curious about :> I for one am focusing mostly on getting stuff that is tedious and not always glamerous or exciting out of the way now so that if/when the game improves, and more combat stuff I'm not having to stop and level stuff ti make/repair armor and so on. Most of my combat right now is for hunting for materials, I got to rank 40 gladiator and taking it slower from now and just leveling on monsters that provide material.

So what is everyone else doing? WHat keeps you logging in right now?

As much as I'd like to be playing, I can't due to the end of the semester/year nearing and final projects already being assigned. Though if I had the time, I'd be playing with my LS, doing leves and crafting, and talking to them on Mumble (which I still do regardless of being in-game or not).
I guess the main reason that I still even consider playing is that most of my close friends from FFXI are here now, and many of them are in my LS. Other than that, I'm sure Yoshi-P can really polish the game up to surpass the players' expectations. The new dev team's determination (especially after what has been happening in Japan) is a pretty good indication that this game will get a hell of a lot better as the year progresses.

I'm starting on my 3rd class and really have no reason to be playing anymore but I have hope for this game and want to be around when it blossoms

Exactly this. I want to be able to say that I stood with the game when it gets brilliant. I haven't had much time to play, cuz of my master's thesis and whatnot, but I'm usually doing leves with LS friends, or if I'm solo, I like to rank up my crafting classes ;P and do some class quests lol

Been playing because i want to get my Gladiator to 50 so i can wear that cool looking gear they got. Only been logging in every time leves reset though

Well I'm currently trying to get everything as high as possible for the time being. Others aren't too terribly far off in saying that one of the only things to do right now is rank up but I'm content to do that for now. My main philosophy for now is that, I want to be of high enough rank to meaningfully participate in the end-game content once we get it.

Aside from that there's getting all the current top gear.

Yeah thats about it with me :> I love the game, and whats in it and have hope for the future. If it takes long enough I may get more then 1-2 combat jobs to 50 but untill more classes I'm probably going to keep 1-2 at 0 or near it so that if they add more low level stuff I can experience it at the level it's meant for.

I personally don't play much these days, mainly because there is almost no one on (I'm on Gysahl)... I can't really commit to an end-game guild at the moment due to future uncertainties, which pretty much leaves behests (most mid-range nodes are empty, most of the day), solo-grinding/crafting (heh heh......), and quildleves (which, outside of group-linking, is horrid for leveling... really not even a consideration unless I want guild marks).

I keep logging in because I think that eventually they will implement good, large-scale fixes to the game for the PS3 launch, especially given their actions as of late. But it's probably more of a belief rather than a concrete assessment .
