Study linguistics long enough and you'll start seeing a lot of similarities between languages. Example: 'Mirar' is the Spanish translation for "to see", and in Japanese, it's 見る or 'miru'... Hmm... I smell a connection! ...Or an interesting coincidence...

Anyway, I see absolutely no problem with Square-Enix endeavoring towards a Spanish localization for the game, and I'm pretty sure they've admitted that they were looking into it at some point previously. As several people have pointed out, it IS one of the most widely spoken languages out there currently. Outside of Nintendo of America's Treehouse unit, Square-Enix is probably the one outfit that I'd trust with a decent localization, so I'd imagine that they'd want to get it right.

Hell, Spanish is my second language, but I learned it in Puerto Rico, which much like American English is a sort of bastardization of British English, it's a poor man's Spanish! Seriously, my vocabulary is still terrible years after the fact! Any good motivation to improve upon it would be a great thing in my opinion!

Of course it IS a resource thing, and localizing the game into Spanish would probably take away from the dev time, so I'd wager it would come well beyond A Realm Reborn's release.

But seriously, people. Learn more languages anyway. It's fun!
