Dramatic character deaths....possibly.

For those of you who read the Bleach manga, they recently spent a couple chapters building up the death of a very well liked character named Kuchiki Byakuya. They gave him what was universally accepted as a "good, dramatic end."

In a recent chapter, it was recently discovered that he is still alive despite the absurd wounds he obtained. I felt this was a huge mistake. All the drama, all the built up emotion, all the chapter space, wasted.

Now, what relevance does this have to XIV?

Louisoix.

Please, for the love of the Twelve, let him be dead.

He had such an emotional and amazing end in the eyes of the players. It was a wonderfully planned and executed scene that tugged the hearts of all players and even did the possible and united the forums, if only for a brief moment.

You've given him this monumental, built up death scene. Please let it be so, and let it be a rallying cry for us in 2.0!

I raised this issue in another thread...but what about Cid and the three leaders? I know we worked with Louisoix personally a lot and he was a heavy hand guiding the nations to being saved from Garleans/Dalamud but these people headed the war efforts of our states, should we not worry about them too?

But also on topic...who knows, he might come back as a spirit or something...there's always that.

A short-term Force Ghost would be acceptable. And I'm sure the GC leaders and Cid survived.

The way it "feels" to me is that Louixoix was very important, but that this death scene was a necessary part of his character.

The others, Cid, Marlyboob, Kansascity and Rubon are all integral to the continuation of the plot.

Actually yes about the ghost but then 100% no at the same time..

He was a smart Guy, It would be really good, ( and simple i think ) to add in a "huge" Echo based story that he had been setting up since we met him, just so if something went wrong he could still help us all..

Conversations actually aimed at the adventurers to guide them to important places, relics, 1/2 the stuff he could mention wont make sense till the time comes/he speaks to us again kinda thing... (for the 1st mini expansion or so.. )
Keeps an Epic death as it should be but also keeps him in the game for a while (id totally not want this in beta though), I can think of more ways to do it but meh.. that's the basic idea

As for the other leaders, I'm guessing they are safe too, otherwise were not either :P
An we don't know what that spell or thing was, so no saying we would all come out of it at the same time.

They weren't very close to Dalamud and we didn't see any of them die or get harmed.


@OP I agree completely and Bleach isn't the only anime to do such a thing (not saying you think it's the only btw). There are many examples where there was a dramatic death of an important character and they just "miraculously" came back and it's always distasteful. Two well known examples of this was the comic following "The Death of Superman" had superman back to life after a very emotional death with the simple explanation that he was only "mostly dead" and the bringing back of Goku in DBZ after the Cell Saga when he was meant to remain dead forever (executive meddling had them bring him back again).
If they bring him back unharmed it will just go down as a cheap yank at our emotions. (Discrediting the speculation that he's the king of primals/summons or whatever new theories people have come up with of late.)

Using 'the echo' to discover more about Louisoix would be acceptable. Or, as others have said, he could come back to us and communicate in spirit form... OR, if he is an archon of the twelve, the essence of the god he represented could become incarnated inside another living being, either someone born or already alive.

Gotta agree, let him die. The worst part of FF13 was when everyone thinks a character committed suicide and then twenty minutes later returns after a very touching scene. It just leaves a horrible taste in your mouth.
