No thanks. I've lived and re-lived that Gandalf moment too many times, in books, animated film, the Hollywood trilogy and LotR games, so I absolutely have no need for it in ARR.

is he smiling at the end?

Who's to say for sure, that the white glow enveloping him at the end wasn't The Twelve rewarding his sacrifice with redemption and sending him with us?![]()

A white shrine in his honor, in the middle of the forest, with eorzean people going there to pray and bring gifts.

I feel like, if he came back, it would cheapen his sacrifice, and the moment we all felt when we realized what he had done.
If the gods truly have archons, I could see another one being born to take Louisoix's place.
Until then, let us remember his memory.

I thought at the end of the trailer he was teleporting everybody to another realm along with himself....which is why the trailer fades to white instead of black.

At first, I thought that might be true...
but then, rewatching it...
That smile. It doesn't look like an, "I'm getting away" smile. It looks like an, "I'm sacrificing my life for all that I believe is right" smile...
I mean, it's all interpretation anyway. We won't know for sure until 2.0.
